Re: The shaders options don't seem to work, period
Found it! Current OpenGL version is 3.1...and I can't figure out how to update it. In fact, Intel's on-site update checker says I don't have any updates available for my graphics driver. The processor, for the record, is a Pentium CPU B980; apparently it's a dual core. What do further versions of Op...

Re: The shaders options don't seem to work, period
I checked the Graphics Control Panel...only to find it's not listing an OpenGL version at all . It lists DirectX as 11.0, well enough, but OpenGL's doing a nice job of hiding from me... The graphics driver for Intel(R) HD Graphics seems to be up to date (May 2016), according to Device Manager. {sigh...

The shaders options don't seem to work, period
(EDIT: Bah, just realized the subject was misleading. Have changed.) I wouldn't be surprised if this is not a bug so much as a hardware limitation, admittedly. Basically, distortion effects (e.g. Unhallowed Morass) and certain other visual effects (e.g. gleaming water, necrotic zones being black nim...

Re: Wyrmic discussion
Which oddly brings up a thought about whether or not arcane blades, shadowblades, and stone wardens somehow suffer from being hybrids. I'll probably have to recheck the last to see how/if their mana and equilibrium affect each other, though.

Re: Wyrmic discussion
I will admit that I brought up "fixing" the Wyrmic when I kept seeing it ranked as a low-tier class. As I said in the original thread, I'd like to see all the classes be at least B tier (I think that's where Temporal Warden is nowadays), not necessarily S tier (Paradox Mage?). Although the...

Re: How to improve Wyrmic?
I was thinking that the original intent was probably that you'd only invest in two, maybe three different Drake Aspect skillpaths. That would be why the breaths differ only in element and inflicted status; to make absolutely sure you'd get a breath, but not require you to go to a specific aspect jus...

How to improve Wyrmic?
Granted I'd like to see every class at at least tier B, but I'm playing Wyrmic right now. I've seen at least one criticism of the class as "unfocused". I'd guess that means there's little tactical cohesion between the abilities, although I will say I like all the various statuses that can ...

Thinking about the precepts in the world's fantasy...
I chanced upon this while doing a Google search for "'Tales of Maj'Eyal' morality", from a Tumblr: Picking up lore in Tales of Maj’Eyal is really driving home how unsuited I am to the standard western RPG. Sooner or later, everything in ToME relates back to either genocide or slavery. The ...

Should Wyrmic get Dual Techniques?
The main wyrmic guide suggests mindstars (which I'll have to forgo; one part liking Stunning Blow, twelve parts not wanting to give Zigur a single copper, let alone a sacrifice), but it also tacitly suggested dual weapons as a possibility, at least in part as a way to give Dexterity some potential r...

Re: Announcing Tales of Maj'Eyal next expansion: Forbidden C
Somehow, I don't think I'll be able to get into the new classes (read: their role-play conceits will clash with my psyche). I'll probably be sticking with Temporal Warden. I am , however, very interested in what the new lore for dwarves will be. I suppose it'll explain why they seem to be the only o...

Re: Bug that prevents a new game
Sure enough, I had to re-download (or thereabouts...) Ashes of Urh'Rok. (So much for auto-updating on start.) It had been reading version 1.4.0. Now it's 1.5.0.

No, not on Steam. I downloaded the game through the launcher.

Bug that prevents a new game
I bring this up, even though I reported the bug in-game, because it looks like the sort of bug I might be able to fix myself. Looks like. Lua Error: /engine/Birther.lua:57: /data-ashes-urhrok/birth/race_cosmetic.lua:33: attempt to index field 'cosmetic_unlock' (a nil value) At [C]:-1 At [C]:-1 error...

Re: 1.3 Temporal Warden Discussion
Regarding alleged squishiness, does anyone else add STR for the purpose of wearing mail? I've just realized it's a holdover habit from when Strength of Purpose increased STR, meaning the only real investment needed was the one point in Armour Training. Especially with my halfling temporal wardens, t...

Class idea 2: Moss Druid
I'm aware there's already an add-on that has its own take on druids, so I'm distinguishing this as the moss druid. Thaloren only, by the way; this is my take on a thalore theurgist--"theurgist" ("user of gods' arts") being my term for one who uses both arcane and nature, mana and...
