I triplechecked to guarantee that there was not a single square of shadow left and autoexplore fails to send me to the exit.

I started a new game in the ID and after clearing the first floor I noticed that the stairs to the next floor are absent.

Autoexplore tells me nothing is left to explore after which I dug up everything, which still showed no stairs down.
