ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

Hi. I just downloaded the steam version of the game, and when i launch it, my screen turns black with a no signal message.
Does anyone else have this problem? and does anyone know a solution? Im on windows xp with an nvidia graphics card. dont know much else than that. thanks!
