ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

Every time I try to get a character into the Fortress of Sher'tul, I get the endless Generating level message, and it never loads. If I end process, the next time I load that character I get a black map and continuous error messages. I've tried disabling addons and uninstalling and reinstalling, but...
