If you buy it here, you can still just place the DLC file into your addons folder even if have the Steam version. It worked for me, creating a new character now.

Okay, so beyond lost playtime the save also seems to be broken. Several key abilties are now listed as unavailable and can't be used. Looks like I will have to start over...

I don't recall doing anything out of the ordinary or the game crashing , I just exited it as usual. I will try disabling Steam Cloud saving for now and keep my fingers crossed it won't happen again. I'll let you know if I run into any more trouble. Thanks for your reply!
