Re: What's the official cannon on dwarf beards?
Okay, so we have one Definitely for the above pic, one on the fencepost but not against... what do the rest of the people who've commented on the thread think about that compromise? It's beardy enough to be a beard, but clean enough to not be a beard. Add some thicker eyebrows and you have something...

Re: Right-click -> Inspect unseen foes
Ah, I see what you're saying. I'd never noticed that. Yes, valid, and I hadn't noticed that (although I should have... maybe I'm blind)

Re: Right-click -> Inspect unseen foes
Actually that one seems perfectly legit. You punch something. You're blind, you can't be sure what you punched, be it friend or foe. That kind of feedback is what the rest of these comments all want being blind to be like: No information except very basic stuff. No special knowledge of anything that...

Re: ToME 2 maintenance
As far as I understand it, Boost is a standard library for C++, and therefore would be easier to deal with on every operating system. It's just not "proven technology", being that it's not "stdlib"

Re: Right-click -> Inspect unseen foes
While we're on visibility issues: When blinded and fighting foes you know must be adjacent, anyways, you can tell when they die because the drops appear underneath where they were, even if you do not then move into the square. You can tell everything about the drops, even though logically you should...

Re: The Veins of the Earth
What are you planning for uses of the various skills?
For clerics, are you planning on having various deities? If so what world are you going for? So far, it seems derived from FR, what given the Drow and the Underdark.
Any thought as to Prestige Classes?

Re: What's the official cannon on dwarf beards?
To be sure, I was thinking a touch fuller and less length than that, but excellent as an example of the hairline pattern I was trying to convey. I like it... beardy without being too off-putting, and sufficiently different from other races as to look dwarfy... something an onlooker could call a bear...

Re: What's the official cannon on dwarf beards?
Impy: Could you try one more sketch? Beard long full and braided, around the sideburns, cheeks, and neck area, but not around the "goatee" area. Keeping the chin, lips, and throat mostly clean and hair free. That's what I'm thinking a "proper" Dwarf-lady looks like, in my head.

Re: What's the official cannon on dwarf beards?
Okay, so after a touch of research, I couldn't find too many examples of what I'd personally like to see. Most examples of the search term "female dwarf" on google show completely unbearded, non-hairy, stocky halfling looking women. But I did find some examples: http://th03.deviantart.net/...

Re: What's the official cannon on dwarf beards?
Certainly Pratchett's world is internally consistent, I was never claiming that it wasn't. That's one of his strengths. Regardless of how an idea gets into that world, he sticks to his guns and thinks out all the implications thereof. But this isn't Tales of Discworld. This is Tales of Maj'Eyal. To ...

Re: What's the official cannon on dwarf beards?
But Satire, by its very definition, takes an idea and runs with it to it's logical absurd. Pratchett's bearded lady dwarves that are indistinguishable from the male dwarves in any way except a particular hair style that male dwarves also, sometimes, style their beards with, is a perfect example of r...

Re: Persistant flames = Light
NPCs wouldn't need to do anything special, regarding the light. This would already light up the player (or not, as the case may be), affecting visibility and automatically triggering the appropriate AI response based on that visibility. The extra processing power to light the areas would be comparab...

Re: Newbie First Impressions
Having tabs on your Inventory screen to switch between party members, and allowing me to drag & drop between different inventories AND between my inventory & any party member's slots This. A thousand times this! It would help far more than just the alchemist, and if added to the engine, pro...

Re: What's the official cannon on dwarf beards?
Well ToME is unique in its canon, and is of course free to do whatever the devs want to do as far as it's Dwarf ladies. It doesn't matter highly what Terry Pratchett or J.R.R. Tolkien or Gary Gygax thought, as this is not their game, and not their Dwarves. Terry Pratchett, especially, should be igno...
