Re: throwing knives and shadowstrike
Yes. Throwing knives from Stealth should crit 100% of the time, unless the target has a crit prevention skill active.

Re: black screen on Mac OS X 10.12.1
FWIW, 1.5's launcher doesn't seem to have this problem. I only got the ordinary hassles with Apple's Gatekeeper the first time I ran the 1.5 launcher. "Ordinary", meaning I had to Ctrl-click the launcher app, select Open, tell Gatekeeper it's ok to open, and type an admin password into the...

Re: Certain Enemies Always See the Player Once "Activated"
Rares and bosses can usually chase you down even if you teleport across the map.
Lesser enemies seldom (never?) can. Instead, they will wander randomly until they luck into you.

Re: black screen on Mac OS X 10.12.1
Followup note: 1.4.9 still fails to open its window properly in OSX 10.12.3. Followup note 2: Instead of clicking on T-Engine.app, I can open a Terminal window and type the commands: cd ~/My\ Applications/t-engine4-osx-1.4.9 ./T-Engine.app/Contents/MacOS/t-engine The game works ok if started that wa...

Re: Doomed Darkness tree
I just started a Darkness doomed. After a pleasant walk through the Trollmire, I came upon Prox the Mighty. I immediately filled the gap between him and me with my talent-level-3.9 Creeping Dark. He walked straight through it, taking zero damage. I retreated (darn 20 CD) and tried again. He walked s...

Re: black screen on Mac OS X 10.12.1
Just a me-too post. I've been running 1.4.8 on this mac with no problem. OSX 10.12.2, current Oracle Java. I downloaded 1.4.9 today from te4.org (my account is te4 only, not Steam). Clicking opens to a small (800x600?) black T-Engine4 window with no game. The "About T-Engine" menu item sho...

Re: Staff Wyrmic?
I'm not sure you'd *have* to go with Cornac, as you'd save a lot of points by not going Anti-Magic anyway. Either Shalore or Ogre might work. They'd want to unlock Undead at level 10 and wait until later to unlock Higher Draconic. Does Necrotic Breath benefit from Wyrmic Guile? 2Handed Assault 1/1/1...

Re: Overwhelmed, looking for some advice!
A nice thing about wyrmics is that there are so many viable builds. The class has good replay value. Either 2hander builds or sword+board builds work (I never could get a mindstar build going). Either will use breaths often anyway. With Rush locked and no access to Step Up, a wyrmic needs the range ...

Re: Is the change to spellpower via paradox visible somewher
Some suggest 0 to better manage Paradox escalation, especially early on. I find 250 is good for a TW. I still get some benefit from paradox, without much danger of it escalating into dangerous zones. And then in the mid-game I'll have a few longer battles that might cause paradox problems, but by t...

Re: Help! About to reach level 29 with Archmage and need adv
Storm mage isn't quite as powerful as wildfire mage, but I wouldn't call that a build mistake. Just a class choice.
Only having a physical infusion may be a problem, though. Sometimes you just can't find a decent phys+mag and a mental anywhere.

Re: Temporal Warden and Weapon Switching
Your understanding is correct. You need at least 1 point in Arrow Stitching and Warp Blade for it to work, and your two sets must be bow (with ammo) and dual weapons. BTW, mouse clicks on an enemy will auto-switch to bow and Shoot. Keypad movement will auto-switch to dual melee weapons and bump atta...

Re: Insane Paradox Mage win, with a twist
You skipped the Temporal Rift, presumably because you didn't have temporal resist penetration nor an alternate damage type.
Was that a problem anywhere else?

Re: New to ToME, first character 30+, need some advice
Elemental Fury is a fine item in the right situations. It should work ok on your AB, although it may make your choice of damage-boosting gear problematic. It's also commonly used by a sun paladin as an emergency fallback if he's suddenly facing a light-resistant enemy.

Re: 1.3 Temporal Warden Discussion
Left-click defaults to Shoot (and will auto-switch to your bow to do so). But the numpad keys default to melee Attack (and will auto-switch to your dual weapons to do so). It works pretty well if you have a full-size keyboard.
