Re: Tome running horribly slow
Aaaaand..... Power surge! R.I.P., little computer. Let's see if I can cobble together something from parts laying around, otherwise, I might be gone for a while. Now, where was that thread about a smartphone port...?

Re: Tome running horribly slow
Johhnyzero, both suggestions were still just as slow as before. Crim, I thought I had posted it in this thread, looking back I see it was another, in which I posted my driver experiences. When beta 1.0.5g came out, the game slowed way way down for me, and I looked into other drivers. I let windows c...

Re: Tome running horribly slow
I always play with audio disabled in the options menu, and as such I tend to download the -nomusic version.

Re: Tome running horribly slow
Looks like that simple mesh is one of the only tests that will run, since all the others require 2.0 or higher. I get about 97 fps, with just a few other windows running in the background.

Re: Tome running horribly slow
Ok, just got home, looks like that new .exe is just as slow for me. It's a little... more jumpy? Maybe the refresh rate is different or something, but basically, still just as slow as the last one. Johnnyzero, I appreciate all the attention on this; but, please don't feel obligated to make the game ...

Re: Tome running horribly slow
Ok, so on running the GPU Caps viewer, the box that says GL_Version says 1.4.0, but the one that says OpenGL Memory is blank, as are some of the others. So I guess that's a no. I've always run with all video options disabled and it worked fine, but it looks like it was skipping pretty much all hardw...

Re: Tome running horribly slow
My scenario was chronicled in another thread, but updating to the newest driver slowed me way down. This was mostly in the beta, pre-1.0.5, though, but I did try it again after just to make sure.

Re: Tome running horribly slow
No change for me with that new .exe fix, still running really slow. Been playing for a while with the earlier beta .exe hollower suggested, and no problems with that one so far. Again, I have a super old system, so I don't expect much.

Re: Ridiculous Mis-spawn???
Was this in a vault? Monsters spawn at out-of-depth levels in a vault; that's why there's a prompt asking if you really want to open the door.
When you are sure you will get smashed on the next turn, best thing to do is use one of your means of escape (teleport rune, psychoport torque, etc).

Re: Mindslayer drops are crap
Yes, I totally agree; but the quality of the mindstar (aside from artifacts) is less important than, say, dagger quality is to a rogue. Any old rock will do.

Re: Mindslayer drops are crap
Great, so instead of doing what mindslayers are supposed to be doing (melee), we just spam mindlash even harder. Awesome, i'm sure that is the right approach to fix mindstar based classes. It's not a bug, it's a feature. No, I'm saying that better gear doesn't benefit a mindslayer as much as most w...

Re: Mindslayer drops are crap
Maybe it's just me, but I feel like mind classes are less gear dependent too; for example, as an archer, you really need some good arrows, but the benefits mindslayers get from their gear, compared to naked, are less essential. Wielding any higher tier gem can get you decent mindlash damage, with sk...

Re: Tome running horribly slow
Something with the text outlines no doubt, Interesting, that might explain why it's slow even on the menu, with background turned off? I have to report the same experience, using the earlier .exe suggested by hollower runs ok (at a short test), as fast as it used to with 1.0.4; but johnnyzero's sug...

Re: Buff for the tricks of the trade prodigy
Just checked; as of 1.0.4, Anorithils definitely aggro the thieves upon entering.
