Re: minmay's class ranking
(And I have to say, the difference between this tier list and, say, your DCSS spell guide seems somehow very telling. But I don't know whether it says more about the difference between the two games, between the two communities, or you.)

The build here isn't actually practical and is being nerfed for whatever reason in 1.5, so staves are pretty much unviable. Play AB if you want to use shortstaff procs for whatever reason.

Re: Bulwarks have problems. Let's fix them!
This got mentioned earlier, and is orthogonal to the interesting work people are doing on the addon, but: IMO the simplest and best fix for the bulwark is to improve the Shield Defense tree. Probably, (1) build Spectral Shield and Eternal Guard into it, and perhaps (2) buff Last Stand to reduce the ...

Re: Let's Brainstorm how to make post-Dreadfell more fun!
I really like all of donkatsu's ideas, especially the option to spend gold to upgrade existing items. I'd think a simple (and maybe balanced?) implementation would just be to increase the item's tier, without otherwise adding or improving any abilities. That way, if you were attached to, say, a t2 u...

Re: advice on arcane blade
I've said it before and I'll say it again. AFAIK there is no circumstance in ToME in which the staff proc damage bonus is not either (a) worthless or (b) game-breaking. Why it exists is beyond me.

Re: Shaloren supremacy... should something be about done it?
I feel like Timeless is a creative, mechanically nifty ability and too much fun to nerf. Echoing others, it is okay to trade balance for fun in a single-player game. But other nerfs are reasonable. Shaloren don't need the crit ability, for instance: off-hand, it might be cool to swap it to Highers i...

drop proc damage acc bonus
Forgive me if I'm beating a dead horse, or if the issue has long been settled on IRC or something. In 1.2, the staff accuracy bonus got reduced from 4.0 to a 2.5 percent increase in proc damage. I don't know why it's still there at all. As far as I can tell, the bonus has two possible outcomes: --) ...

Re: Quick question on Staff of Talos
Most players agree that it isn't worth the Prodigy point. Although you're more than welcome to decide for yourself if yo get some lucky drops. :) I'm a little surprised nobody's suggested that for this reason, a prodigy point is the wrong kind of cost for assembling the staff. For instance, an NPC ...

Re: Brainstorming a hypothetical Sustain-focused class
Although it wasn't completely sustain-heavy, stinkstink was working on an awesome martial class in just this spirit (and based on the idea of a strictly limited resource pool) that never quite got finished. :: nudge, nudge::
