You might want to work on beating nightmare with a non-melee first so that you understand when to do things a bit better. For instance, I wouldn't do Derth until level 20 (Kill all townspeople + all T1 + all T2 + lumberjack gets you there) and wouldn't do the Farportal guardian until I had +5 levels...
