The biggest problem with Solar Beam isn't the damage output(which is actually extremely good for its cooldown and the fact that it's a resource generator), it's the fact that it takes two turns to fire off and there's no way to interrupt spending both turns in a row. I gave the class a quick glance and it seems interesting but the lack of any free Vim restoration options(Drain) makes it borderline unplayable early on. Arent Reavers already a bit Op? Definitely not. Are this class's attack skills classed as spells or mind powers for the purposes of spell or mental crit and triggering effects/prodigies? They're not flagged as either in the spell descriptions.

The bugged physical damage makes the character largely pointless to continue, but the Impale bug is indeed fixed. I'll see about getting around to starting fresh sometime, but initial 1-30 impressions are that Sand/Blade builds are quite strong with fantastic AoE and single target.

Is it intended for Fire Drake's frenzy to not be able to target enemies in melee? Not being able to activate a 3 range talent once you're in melee basically means the fire tree's signature buff is unusable the lion's share of the time, especially since the length of the buff is so short at low levels.
