currently I'm just shooting for higher base stats to bring boss mobs and critters a little closer together, I just finished my first pass, going to boot it up tonight and see how many mistakes I made =)

I think I found it, looks like its in the module, /mod/class/actor.lua, if anyone is curious.

Where is monster "Rank" defined?
Rank effects the base monster template, I was wondering if I could perhaps edit these values? Anyone know roughly where to look? Engine vs Module perhaps?

well sure thats what I mean for short term, if I find a good way to nerf the bosses then I'd just play the whole game on insanity or wtv... its just a matter of finding the right numbers to change. I wonder if anybody can help me rebalance mobs a bit, normal mobs being so weak compared to bosses makes the game kind of boring.
