Re: [b42] Classic Dwarf Bulwark
Echoing others' suggestion, definitely build more dex. It took me several failed bulwarks to realize how useful dex is on them; it also reduces the need for investing more than 1-2 in Combat Accuracy so you can put more points in the (much more useful) conditioning tree. Also, Rush is one of those s...

Re: traps nerf
I don't have problems with traps for the most part. The only areas where they really end up being a big problem for me are the second level of the Maze (and I'm pretty sure it's intentional there, so I'm fine with that) and the Blighted Ruins. The ones in the Blighted Ruins seem unintentionally stro...

Re: Brawler - Grappling
Good advice Jenx, it's neat to see someone have some successful playtime with grappling. I enjoy brawlers in general a lot, too; a halfling evasion+counterstrike build can be a lot of fun. But yeah, I think the biggest thing with grappling is that you REALLY have to get your hands on some size boost...

Re: Brakk the level 24 Dwarf Bulwark
Caveat on the spydre robes: Armor training doesn't benefit armor lighter than heavy. At all. Well... I still haven't doublechecked leather. But robes, which the spider-silk robes are, definitely not. It's pretty easy to check when you've got a free generic, yeah. So if you're considering the robes ...

Re: Brakk the level 24 Dwarf Bulwark
My recommendation would be to put a little less focus in shield pummel and battle tactics at first. Don't underestimate a maxed out Fast Metabolism - you can view it like a 5 point damage reduction per turn against all types of damage, and that can help a lot, at last up through Dreadfell. I've play...

Re: Steelbeard, The Level 19 Dreadfell Clearer
The psionic squid you encountered was likely a solipsist who had an ability which allows their psi energy to function as extra health. You were still damaging them, it's just that you were burning through their psi first (and as a result reducing the amount of damage they can do). Solipsists are ex...

Brawler - Grappling
After attempting a run through the campaign as a grappling-based brawler, I'm curious as to how everyone else goes about building one for the campaign (if anyone bothers trying it at all). I ran into three major problems with it once I got to tier 2: 1) Many enemies, including bosses, are either too...

Steelbeard, The Level 19 Dreadfell Clearer
I finally cleared Dreadfell for the first time, and I never expected to be able to pull it off when I did. I was playing a dwarf bulwark and everything was going smoothly until level 12, when I entered Daikara 1 and was greeted at the door by a level 35 orc pyromancer. A quick death there sent me re...
