Re: Monoliths and Cultists in Daikara?
Fire/Physical resistances and a good mental/magic save (or an infusion that cures these) are a must when dealing with the boss. At one point a timer started, i think it was when one of them got killed by a mob or something, and when the timer ran out, some demon woman spawned. IIRC she primarily did...

Re: Overpowered random enemies
Most purples I've faced down in my current run were actually rather harmless because of the significant damage even an average Alchemist can output. I might say that the rare bladed horror that was the last one I killed deserves a special mention because, while not so hard when faced down on its own...

Re: Your most hated enemy ?
On my current run in the infinite dungeon (decided to go back to ToME after all the updates hit and most bugs were fixed up) I have to say that the worst enemies, bar none, were the greater multihued Wyrms in that one vault where you dig your way through into passages. I've actually faced down and d...

Running Archmage in infinite dungeon is too much fun
I've got to say that no class is more !!FUN to use than an Archmage for the purpose of running an infinite dungeon playthrough, especially with all the trees at its disposal on hand. This is even funnier than my broken alchemist capable of slaughtering adventuring parties easily. Even if I get in ha...

Re: About to enter Dreadfell

When in doubt, I suppose a usable charged item might be of use; a staff which can project damage for instance.

Re: About to enter Dreadfell
There's also something to watch out for, if you're going there as a Necromancer, 90% of your damage ability will be Darkness. Some of the vaults contain Dreadmasters, who are 70+% Dark immune, and summon Dreads, which have much the same immunity. They WILL mess you up. If you pop out one of those a...

Re: About to enter Dreadfell
Eesh, what actually handles a full out celia gauntlet? Can anything actually manage, what, ten randuniques and a boss plus minions at the same time? Though, being fair, I've never actually tried it because it sounds like bald faced suicide :P Now, if you're talking taking them coffin by coffin, yea...

About to enter Dreadfell
I've finished up all that I possibly can do on the main Eyal map. The only thing that I've left to do is enter the Dreadfell tower. From various sources I have now reached xp level 37, and can overcome pretty much anything thrown my way. I sided with the grand corruptor to destroy Zigur, and got cor...

Re: This sort of thing makes the game unbalanced...
In an irony, the second farportal I explored had one of the crappiest bosses I've had the fun of facing (human shadowblade cursed.) Even his loot was only any good for transmog.

Re: Special dungeon features
throwing in a few ideas: (ok one idea) Unhallowed Ground (any ruins/crypt map should have these) - radius 2 circular Walking on the location should trigger three skeletal warriors to spawn, scaled by your level, with a very small chance of one being a rare. At the same time you should be debuffed wi...

Re: This sort of thing makes the game unbalanced...
The Vor Armory vault you can plan for. Not an overpowered boss who essentially jumps out at you from left field. There's your difference. I know it's meant to be unfair, but this was the worst trouble I've had with any set of enemies not even counting the ones at the bottom of lake Nur. I've fought ...

Re: This sort of thing makes the game unbalanced...
Here's my own unfortunate example; I was setting up to explore a farportal for gear, when I ran into this Xaren cursed paradox mage boss on the second floor, who had a small escort of very annoying shadows that kept fading and casting spells. This boss apparently could hit like Godzilla too, and if ...

Re: Slaver compound?
That ring's actually pretty incredible on just about anyone :P Alchies in particular... iirc, it has a chance to proc off of every source of damage you deal. That's another way of saying it's got a 15% chance per target your bomb hits to heal 30% of the damage. And then another chance off of every ...
