Re: The most useless prodigy? Looking at you, Lucky Day
I would love to have Lucky Day work like the luck perks from GURPS, way-back-when. Maybe an activated talent with 10 turns duration and 25-turn cooldown. When activated, any damage rolls made by the player get rolled twice, and the higher of the two is used. Any damage rolls made by enemies get roll...

Re: Cannot compile - lubuntu / Raspbian
That is indeed the something that I did. Thanks for your help, and for all the work you've done to maintain my favorite 'band variant. Now I just have to get it working with DGameLaunch, and we'll be set!AnonymousHero wrote: This is almost certainly because you did something likeCode: Select all

Re: Cannot compile - lubuntu / Raspbian
Now I feel silly. Just had to do two days' worth of digging through forum posts. The mistake: I was trying to compile from the tome2/src directory, instead of the root tome2 directory. I was also leaving all the options at default, which wasn't right for the intended build (I want the curses version...

Cannot compile - lubuntu / Raspbian
I've tried to compile on both of my test systems now, with no success. Both systems give the same error. I've read the README.txt and other stuff I could find, and I've installed the libraries I think I need (libjansson4, libjansson-dev, build-essential, etc) I cloned the source from https://gitlab....

Re: ToME 2.3.10-ah questions
Again, something LIKE an Arcane Archer class.
A class with a mix of ranged, magical, and stealth abilities. I'm not advocating taking the names straight from D&D. But the general idea is similar.

Re: ToME 2.3.10-ah questions
That'd do it, probably. Something like an Arcane Archer class, maybe.Lord Estraven wrote:This should probably be Dealt With (TM) at some point in the future. Probably by giving Rangers much higher multipliers in the magic schools.

Re: Uniques as symbiants?
If I remember rightly, the game turns are evaluated such that the summoned pet will always get a turn before you can act again to hypnotize it. I seem to recall some experimentation done to that effect. I'll have to do some wizard-mode tests, I guess, unless someone is familiar enough with the sourc...

Re: The Last ToME 2 Character
I for one would love to see them back. Beorn was always one of my favorites of yours, and once Werrix is up to taking on Angband I might do one in the same style. For right now I've just been DitLing the main events, but something more in-depth would be good if Werrix turns out to be a winner. Is th...

Uniques as symbiants?
I'm trying to update some outdated info in Lord Dimwit's ASG, and I came across this: Note: the very best symbiotes are uniques, but there's only one nonmoving unique that isn't a Z/Cth creature. If you turn on Z/Cth creatures, though, you get some pretty nice options. Yibb-Tstll, Chaugnar Faugn, Cy...

Re: ToME 2.3.10-ah questions
Yeah, the way that Rangers are handled in T2 just sucks. Any of the "hybrid" classes take a backseat to the "pure" ones, with maybe the exception of Loremasters and their ilk. You'd be better off playing a straight Bowmaster/Crossbowmaster than a Ranger. Just get quest rewards an...

Re: The Last ToME 2 Character
Okay, update: Werrix is close to being kick-ass here. I got lucky (again) and snagged Eol's corpse, thought I would try it out since it's better than my Cyclops body. I never knew it could be this awesome. A handsome array of ball spells, controlled teleport, and all kinds of nasty mid-level summons...

Re: Tome2: Unlua
Short answer: The particular mix of Lua and C in ToME was a complete maintenance nightmare -- it was extremely hard to modify anything significant and the Lua interpreter in ToME was a modified fork of some ancient version of Lua -- I have no idea if those modifications were documented anywhere, bu...

Re: Tome2: Unlua
What was the rationale behind removing lua? I sense a lot of hate for lua on this board, and I've always preferred working with a C++ engine and lua scripts rather than hard-coded everything. One of my favorite things about T2 versus other variants was the ability to script in things with lua withou...

Re: Porting ToME2 to the T4 engine
I think the TE4 interface will work well in a t2 module. I don't think anyone should go so far as to duplicate every single quirk of the old engine, though. Just the content would be fine. Thaumaturgy and other things had a fubar'd interface to begin with, so I won't feel bad to see macros die in fa...

Oops, with it up on the old wiki all that time, I'd completely forgotten that I didn't have it up on my own page too. That has been corrected. We Apologize for the Inconvenience.(TM) Zizzo, you rule.
