Hi!
I got black screen after step in to farportal in my fortress. This is spoil my save as well. Now after loading char i see the same black screen.

[RC3] System halt
It happens sometimes when I looking at items in inventory. The screen and system are freezing. No keys/mouse works. Only power reset helps

I had the same problem in crypt. Just avoided him.
