Re: How on earth do I make a Bulwark survive?

This bulwark took one death early on, and then waltzed through most of the rest of the game - didn't even break a sweat on any of the end game bosses, for my first and so far only win. http://te4.org/characters/16204/tome/d7eb5126-511a-4cb8-b4c3-390194f0a807 Shield Wall is a core skill for maximizin...

Re: Step Up

You aren't breaking your Step Up through your actions. For whatever reason some triggered action effects like this one can occur 'partway' through a round (probably due to speed modifiers on your attacks) but they still end at the exact end of the next round. As a result, you may see less than one f...

Can no longer log in to the game via steam?

As of today I don't seem to be able to log in via ToME4 itself. Obviously my forum login is fine, and my user data is all still fine http://te4.org/user/16204/characters But when I run the game, it doesn't log in and plays in offline mode instead. If I use the steam logon button, it tries to log on ...

Re: Vilespawn when you spawn

The vilespawns that Corpathus summons are now friendly. Or at least they are to my dwarven bulwark.

Re: Necromancer: ANM minions weaker than basic ones?

Actually, I agree with the symmetrical approach DG takes. The AI of the necro minions could much more easily be forgiven if they didn't take friendly fire damage from each other - which should be easy to achieve by simply extending the Dark Empathy benefit to all minions within your aura. Also in li...

Re: Necromancer: ANM minions weaker than basic ones?

Yeah, by far and away the most powerful spell-casting undead are the basic skeletal mages - they hit like trucks, but of course, the fact that almost all your undead abilities have friendly fire sorely reduce their usefulness. If you go minions, you can't use your ice spells OR your lich twilight li...

Re: Necromancer: ANM minions weaker than basic ones?

Shifted the build to work with maxed out bone giants and animus so I can summon two of them - much more potent than any of the random undead, if a tad soul expensive and even more logistically complex. The problem here is that the bone giants appear to be bugged. As followers they will only ever use...

Necromancer: ANM minions weaker than basic ones?

I just ran up a Lich to about lvl 28 - he's going fine, except that the points I have been throwing into Advanced Necrotic Minions appear to be a complete waste. The minions summoned by this category are mostly vampires - which are a LOT weaker than your basic armored skeletons, ghouls, archers, and...

Re: Step Up Bugged?

At the very least the skill's description should be amended to say that it grants a random (0-1000%) speed bonus on a kill.

Truth in advertising. ;)

Re: Step Up Bugged?

Yes, that is exactly my impression - In some cases it effectively fails to activate altogether, as it pops on and off in the same tick, before you even get to move. Basically you're stuck with %chance fail to activate (down to zero for a full 5pt skill investment), then you're stuck with an invisibl...

Step Up Bugged?

I have a skeletal bulwark using Step Up at tier 5. The skill increases move to 1000% for 1 turn, which should come to 10 steps, as I generally have no other move or speed effects on me, but after repeated tests I find that it does not allow this rate of movement. The actual number of steps permitted...

Re: [b40]Bulwark Block non-synergy

Excellent. I was unaware of the defense reduction due to block - but yes, at this stage of the game, my defense vastly outstrips my shield block value - but it's good to know that will eventually correct, should I ever find a decent shield. As for the 'low damage' - I didn't mean to suggest that bul...

[b40]Bulwark Block non-synergy

Playing up a bulwark in b40, and I'm noticing the following issues: Foremost is that block is not a very effective mechanic for bulwarks, as their Defense rapidly becomes too high for block to operate in a reliable fashion - chances are good that the guy you hope to counterstrike against will simply...

Wretched Thing vs. Thalore Archers

Just wanted to mention that the Wretched Thing is kind of an awful spoiler boss for Thalore Archers - which are a pretty logical new player build that otherwise works fine throughout the early levels. Filling a room with summoned teleporting backstabbers pretty much eliminates any and all of the arc...

Re: How prepare for "The Master"

Yeah, I've never noticed any particular bias in the teleports, aside of course from the obvious bias of Murphy's Law plucking you out of the frying pan and into the fire. Always teleport BEFORE you are in serious trouble, and leave a few tricks available to survive what happens at the far end. Bear ...
