Re: Racial modifiers to talent trees
It just makes race a pointless option... Why do you need to be able to play all classes on all races optimally or close to optimally? It doesnt add diversity cause its the same. Maybe the races just need more features added to them to make them more diverse regardless of class.. But a dwarf archer i...

Re: Racial modifiers to talent trees
I agree with the OP..
Its boring to be able to do any combo.
And it also makes more sense for the game to work like the OP mentioned.
Makes the races actually matter aside from just being visually a bit different.

Re: More world randomization
Yes the point about the fact that just scrambling the overworld would be bad is true.. I think in every Roguelike the overworld has always been the weakest link, even in commercial roguelikes on consoles The overworld was always the most boring part... I think though that it doesn't have to be so......
Re: An intro.
Agree on removal of orb but not on only showing an item lore once...
I sometimes read the same lore many times because i forget it.
With the addition of more items this will be even more true.

Re: More world randomization
Maybe you are right. Perhaps the overworld needs a bit more thought than? Why is it really pointless to randomize it? Maybe because its much more boring than the instances.. Maybe it needs something interesting like areas that become randomly guarded by a party...or waring factions from new cities? ...

More world randomization
Roguelikes are all about replayability. While none randomized rpgs get boring fast as you get to know the locations and plot after your first play through, roguelikes are usually built to allow for maximum replayability. This is done by adding tons of content and than randomly generating it a new ev...

Re: Question about the game
Its not silly because it indicates to the player something is different than the usual state of having skills on cooldowns in a clear and precise way which is exactly what is missing ATM.

Re: Question about the game
Stun should just be what the word means. Having an effect called "stun" that doesnt actually stun is silly. What player in his right mind would guess the effects of "stun" ToME uses...A stun stuns you.. I.e no movement and no skill use.If that is too powerful, reduce its availabi...

Re: Question about the game
The reason to differentiate between them is to notify the player his skills wont be up when he expects them to be and that perhaps he needs to do something cause his opponent has certain debilitating skills. Also, your statement makes no sense since you contradict yourself by first saying there is n...
An intro.
A newbie starts the game with absolutely no knowledge of the world he is entering. It is as if you are playing morrowind and youre a prisoner sent to exile to a place you know nothing about only its not true since all the characters in ToME are those who have lived in the world of ToME for a long ti...
