Reckless Strike also gives a giant buff to resistance penetration that's not mentioned in the description.
It's an effect from Destroyer.

All the talents are used on talent level 1, regardless of how high the talent was on the enemy you swiped it from.

Had same problem, however doing it manually seems to work.

Go to addons>Te4.org DLCs>Ashes>download

It will load the updated version.
