Re: [1.3] Class/Race Tier List
If it helps, I've tossed the idea around of making it "long but not indefinite" when I get some more stable and generalized extra tools on Wyrmic. For now, though, it takes some convincing that it's, say, out of place good. Permanent immortality is pretty out of place, no? Pulling the dam...

Re: [1.3] Class/Race Tier List
Yes, while that's awfully cute you do the same damage as a baby hitting you with a wet noodle. You do enough damage to clear Insane with ease, and most classes can't clear Madness anyway. It allows you to cut off single, powerful threats indefinitely, or to escape indefinitely using Burrow+Lightnin...

Re: [1.3] Class/Race Tier List
Because at any point you can decide, "I don't want things to hit me anymore", and Ice Wall makes it happen. If you can stop taking damage whenever you want, the only two things that can kill you are one-shots, and effects that prevent you from using Ice Wall. Cauterize and Draconic Will ta...

Re: YAVP: Thalore Wyrmic - 1.3 Insane/Roguelike
Healing Nexus for healing enemies. Weapon damage at the beginning of the game is subpar, so I mainly used Acidic Spray to get through the early levels. Late game the damage falls off a bit compared to breaths, but the passive mindpower increase justifies points in it at all levels. From level 10 to ...

Re: [1.3] Class/Race Tier List
I don't see how the amount matters, whether it's 16k or a billion. Healing Nexus prevents 100% of healing without exception, for its 8 turn duration. The timing is really tight, for sure; you'd have to cast Healing Nexus and trigger Vitality before the next tick, but with DoTs and/or slow moving pro...

What stops Healing Nexus from being a viable counter to Vitality?Mex wrote:Tier A represents classes that are basically immortal, with Unstoppable/Sacrifice shield. They are not strong enough to complete Madness now due to Vitality or short durations on Unstoppable.

Re: 1.3 Chrono Feedback and todo list
If 300 = 100% spellpower, then it makes sense for 0 = 0% spellpower. If 0 = 100% spellpower, then it's not obvious how to get 0% spellpower. I wouldn't mind if all paradox numbers were divided by 3 to get 100 = 100% spellpower, but that sounds like a lot of work.Thasero wrote:0 is an even rounder number.

Re: YAVP: Thalore Wyrmic - 1.3 Insane/Roguelike
Since the only way a wraith can approach you is through a wall (and they can't or won't go through Ice Walls, only regular dungeon walls) you can just Wing Buffet them whenever you're tired of being in melee with one. Then they can't touch you until they go through the entire knockback distance. If ...

Re: 1.3 Chrono Feedback and todo list
I think it's enough to have the various defenses across multiple categories, because the player has spent cat points to access those trees. If players want to go for all of these defenses, I don't see why not, because they're spending resources to get to the talents. Because the payoff ends up bein...

Re: Dragging Sun Infusions into the Light of Day
It's an infusion, infusions are nature, nature doesn't do magic. But does it have to be an infusion in the first place? If you look at the classes, none of the wilder talents mention anything about the sun. Celestials outright worship the sun, and what do they get? Magic. I also see this making sens...

Re: YAVP: Thalore Wyrmic - 1.3 Insane/Roguelike
I was floating generics all the way up until the Sorcerer fight, so I sunk 2 into Meditation and 2 into Combat Accuracy, as an afterthought. Outside of Ice Wall, Devouring Flames, Lightning Speed, Burrow, and Healing Nexus, none of my talent choices really ended up mattering. It's funny, people main...

Re: 1.3 Chrono Feedback and todo list
Any one Paradox Mage defense is not too strong, but it's easy to combine all of them for nigh invulnerability. Splitting them into category points was a good idea, but players get 4 category points to work with so they'll still get all of them. Instead, use paradox as a limiting factor. Decrease the...

Re: Explain to me how to play this game.
Theoretically I think I could get 100% of characters to level 20 on Insane with no deaths if I never autoexplored and I inspected every rare. In practice, I autoexplore and mash buttons early on and manage about a 50% survival rate, but I think this method produces winners faster simply because the ...

Re: Rethinking Mages 3: the mage classes and other trees
Swap out Arcane Reconstruction for an active damage shield, and Arcane Shielding for some other sustain. Light retains its identity as the healing tree with some shielding splashed in, while Aegis is the definitive shielding tree. Light: 3 active heals, 1 active shield Aegis: 1 active shield, 2 sust...
