Re: Yay for keypads!

It should have the chat feature in the steam release. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get my account to hook up with it yet. Just figured out part of the problem - I already made an account a while back but not through steam, so in that case go to http://te4.org/user/ and login, then look for t...

Yay for keypads!

So after many years of laptops without keypads, which caused frustrating occasional attempts to play ToME (I just can't get the hang of rogue keyset when my fingers already know the standard one!), while looking for my next window into gaming, I finally ignored all laptops without keypads. So, final...

Re: T4 official and practical status?

DG.... skis? WTF? I always envisioned you as an old man, bent and wizened with age with a long white beard poring over line after line of code. Weird. Really? And you envisioned that old, bent, wizened man getting married a couple years ago? I always picture him with big nerd glasses, wea...

I'd certainly play T3 sometime, and maybe try to grab some time to come back to the forums if there's stuff to talk about. Just busy right now as work's crazy in the summer and I just got married so free gaming time is very rare. Edit: see, I was just told I have 20 minutes to take a shower, then we...

Ooops. My mistake. Thanks for clarifying. No prob. It is just assumed that everybody's favorite roguelike is going to be ToME...probably get booed out if you claimed it wasn't. ;-) So to save any such embarrasing happenings, no one's allowed to compare ToME with other roguelikes... (all tong...

My greatest fear right now is druj, since they don't show up with telepathy and have nasty spells that my little Rock Lizard (possessed) monk can't resist and 300 HP doesn't go very far against.

I think the current way that a light slot is part of the equipment slots is realistic, even for using a torch or lantern. If it was acted out, that'd sort of be the way it plays out. It encompasses your idea that when fighting the light is put on the ground, but it just smoothes it over for the play...

Potions frequently don't work when you're fighting pack monsters like novice mindcrafters or a princess pack. I don't know as there's anything that works, other than confusion resistance. You can't read, activate, cast, zap, or use an ability, so that leaves you with basically nothing. So the best p...

Hahah, you should have seen the uproar here initially when flying over trees was implemented, and various breeders were given the flying flag. They didn't turn out to be as deadly as everyone was thinking they were going to be, though I certainly have left plenty of levels in the Barrow Downs and Mi...

He probably resurrected it because as the Forum Etiquette sticky states, we encourage using old threads rather than beginning a new thread on the same topic.

Do you mean have all the questions and their answers in that FAQ thread, or put links in the FAQ to threads that asked and answered the question? The former could make an incredibly long post, I'd say, unless it is kept to the basic frequently asked questions. But, this could be more than a "fr...

Another thing that these keys are very useful for is when 'l'ooking around. For instance, when trying to find the one granite wall allowing access to a greater vault, rather than try to tunnel each wall, just 'l'ook, then 'o' or 'p' and run along the outer walls. Saves a lot of hassle.
