Geomancy vs. School Spell Damage
Someone commented a while ago that Geomancy seemed overpowered. I did some digging through the spell spoiler and came out with some comparisons .... The damage dice for Channel Elements at Fire school level 50, on a square of lava, is 30d15. That gives an average of 210 damage. Fireflash, at spell l...

Suggestion: make current Osyluths undead demons; boost up the power of the whatchamacallems (those weak demons with pincers), make them powerful Morgulroeg; and make current Gelugons into warrior-demons, with more spells than the usual ones (these would be platoon leaders). Don't forget that monste...

To me demons are not that familiar. Of course I know all the usual, but there are those that I can't tell what they are and what they do. A dog is nice animal since know that it bites and whips its tail. Bird flies and sings. Barbazu... summons demons? What I'm trying to say is that if there should...

Sometimes I'm under the impression that there is some kind of 'cold war' between Nethack and Angband players. I used to be quite into Nethack, and went through an ADoM phase for a while until a lot of the secrets came out (Trident of the Red Rooster, anyone?). They're still good games -- I think mo...

Would it be possible to have an attack/spell that does no damage, but only has an impact effect? Check out Gust of Wind: http://www.t-o-m-e.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1888 Now, arguably it should always do at least some crushing damage if the enemy is caught up against a wall. The important part is ...

Some thoughts on the subject of new spells: Utility spells are worthwhile. There are a lot of direct-damage and summon-monster spells. However, it's utility spells which give rise to some particularly creative and ingenious play. Consider Stone Prison, whose uses aren't immediately obvious -- or the...

I burned out my magic-school spell ideas back here: http://www.t-o-m-e.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1888 ... but here are some spell ideas for the gods' schools: Wind Strike (Manwe Sulimo 15) Summons the strength and speed of the winds to aid you in combat. The forceful blast of air knocks nearby foes ...

3) For sale: junkarts and/or randarts. At Expensive Black Market prices. The hitch: *NO DESCRIPTIONS OF THEIR POWERS*. You take a wild chance on buying something that will activate for something nasty, just plain dumb, or nifty. You can *ID* them after purchase, of course. Make this the wandering m...

Great idea. And how about upon destroying last obelisk, it kills instantly remaining guardians ? Huge explosion or something, maybe even dangerous to player. Want a dramatic effect? When an obelisk is destroyed, it sends out a circular wave of disenchantment, which should do nicely to clean up any ...

Re: Quest: Obelisks of Corruption / Fleeing Apprentice
Hmm... Me likes. But you mean a special sort of enchantment that can actually exceed the traditional limit (+11 or so) imposed by Scrolls of Enchant Foo, right? Sure. Though I would be interested in a sort of enchantment that would ''roll over'' pluses to other sorts of bonuses ... for instance, if...

Very, very cool. One gripe: why priestess and not priest ? Yes, I know it's minor, but I think the gender ought to be random. The geomancer and ranger don't have specified sexes in what I wrote -- it could go either way. I can be all sexist if you like and point out that the priestess hands out jew...
