Unless you have the monters remembered, Monster Recall -- especially in the latter parts of the game. All I use is Visible Monsters in the upper left corner (I have the window rather large -- I then can easily click on it see the entire list of monsters), Monster Recall in the bottom left and Messag...

@Maverick: If I only could, If I only could...sigh...wait did I repeat myself...? If I only could, I would. I have numerous ideas. Especially due to my reworking of the whole idea of what a RPG is -- and trying to write my own... I am finding it more daunting of a task than when I first began to tac...

I used to be a *diehard* NetHack fan... I've ascended, knew a *whole lot* of the tricks...skipped school just to play :? . Then I went to college, and my addiction just sort of drifted... Grew up a ~little~ and then got my first career-related job. One fateful, boring day at work -- I see a banner a...

It's interesting, but (and I may be wrong here) it sounds like an immense re-coding project... Yeah, that was in the back of my mind as I was writing that. P.S. Clasess should be more connected with races, for example wood elf should have +10% more shoting skill per points than normal character, et...

...aren't these all ideas ... ?? Or: To buy an entirely new skill costs 10 skill points or so. Doing this allows access to the skill at regular rates. When you start the game, you get to pick 2 or 3 skills to start with. Buy those points from NPCs or Uniques with proficiency in desired skill. 'Buy' ...

(sgulp...dare I say?...) If Tolkien never existed, or If he took the job at the factory instead... well, then this would be one of the greatest fantasy films created...maybe even of all time...

But if you have killed a gelatinous cube, isn't there a fairly high change you have hacked/blasted/charred it apart already? :) Is there no spatter effect? The items would be *covered* with acid. You should have acid resist, just to touch anything - or at least gloves that are not damaged by acid. ...

To learn new spells, as you gain levels, you must go to the master of your order (a guild) and he will teach you new spells, as you are more competent to handle more powerful spells. As you use the spells you know more, the better they will become. If spells are neglected, you have a chance of incre...

I thought about something similar before, but wanted to work out details. I really like the idea. One thing is, is there argument against it for other items that could use a pouch. Potions, scrolls, runes, spellbooks (playing a sorcerer is tough with more than half my inventory being spellbooks and ...

You shouldn't be able to sell legendary artifacts. "Holy - I... I cannot accept. That sword is the sword of Fingolfin - it belongs in a museum, not a shop!" I fully believe in this. I always feel a little guilt, even when selling a more useless artifact that only goes for 8000au. Like pla...

I think it could be good for ToME too, traits would be like boolean skills, you have them or you dont. They would be bought with skill points too and could have stats and skill requirements to be bought. Have a Monastery with Grandaddy monk that teaches skill or gives them to you based on skill adv...
