Re: This sort of thing makes the game unbalanced...
But if you're not willing to give me any idea of what your experience is, it becomes impossible to have a meaningful conversation. Why? Surely an opinion or idea stands apart from the person who has it? Sorry. I really hate to put it like this I doubt that very much, you've trotted your record out ...

Re: This sort of thing makes the game unbalanced...
Quite presumptuous, don't you think? I agree. Let's see you show me wrong. What's your area order? What's your gear before a given area? How far have you gotten, how many runes? I don't ask for proof backing it up-I play offline, and I respect those that do. Just give me some general info here that...

Re: This sort of thing makes the game unbalanced...
You haven't played enough then. Quite presumptuous, don't you think? That said, I can think of one exception. 'Your weapon dances away from you. Xom thinks this is hilarious!'. (The mistake being, of course, worshipping Xom in the first place ;)). I remember the gnoll packs on D:1 quite well; hones...

Re: This sort of thing makes the game unbalanced...
I'm looking forward to the balance changes as well, but I hope it goes the right way. I don't think many of us here object to difficulty. It's a roguelike, after all - difficulty is part of the attraction - but I dislike ToME's particular brand of difficulty. Rather than anything feeling strategic o...

Yeah, I've seen them from being level 5 in b32, it's crazy.

Seem to be having a similar issue after running into an unrelated (hopefully) LUA error and having to close the program through the Task Manager.

Re: Dumb questions thread
This is probably a stupid question, but here goes.
Is there a way to update to the new version without downloading the whole release? Like a patch or something?
And if not, can I transfer unlocks, highscores, etc to the new version?

Re: Remove item disappearing
Another +1 here. I really can't see a sensible reason for it, and it's another thing that an inexperienced player wouldn't expect without spoilers - which could lead to some nasty losses!

Re: More hints for beginners? Must one read the spoilers?
The OP raises a good point. To say that the ToME community (by having separate forums and chat channels) seems to discourage spoilers, they seem more necessary than in a good deal of other roguelikes. Aside from the obvious lack of help documentation (the whole 'resource leech' issue was raised in a...

Re: Ok, take a step and... Huh!?
Should have known RE the weapons. I was initially using the shearing one, but swapped it out. And I had 6 or so unspent stat points - I knew I should have put them in Constitution. For me, the benefit of pumping my strength and taking weapon mastery was that with my high damage (and level 5 Mortal T...

Re: Ok, take a step and... Huh!?
Do you use an online profile? I couldn't find your character, so I guess you don't, but I was curious. I just made one now, as a bit of an experiment. But here's my character dump (took me ages to find out where it was actually saved!). I trimmed out all the gems and general misc. stuff I was carry...

Re: Ok, take a step and... Huh!?
I still can't see how I was hit so many times, particularly given as there was at least one empty space between the archer and myself. Even taking the daze into account; given that shield use is instantaneous and takes no time, I must have had a full shield on my last turn. As edge described, it loo...

Ok, take a step and... Huh!?
So I was exploring Dreadfell level 8 with my best character so far - a level 28 Cornac Berserker. I'd done all the other dungeons available except for the Mark of the Spellblaze, and wasn't having too much trouble there, though I had to be careful (the trickiest part so far had been the Kryl-Feijan ...

Ah, that tallies with what I've noticed so far, now that I think back. Thanks!
