ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

This has been screwed up for several weeks. Ignore the "maximum number of tries" message. Just keep doing CAPTCHAs. Eventually you will get in.

God quests recur at random spots on the map so there is something wrong with your build. They are always either on grass or shallow water squares.
The default seems to be a couple of squares NW of Bree. If there is a problem with generating a new dungeon that is where it shows up.

There are rooms that are impenetrable. The most common scenario is when certain vaults that are not surrounded by granite walls pop up in a dungeon like the Orc Cave where the dungeon itself is made of impenetrable stuff. There are still ways to get into these rooms if you have the right power, like...

Macros are erased on exiting Tome unless you have saved them using the @ menu.

I haven't played Theme for a while, but I think the answers to most of these are the same as regular Tome. I see you eventually found the spiders and wight quests. All of those quests from the local town boss are somewhere in the town square. The god quests can be almost anywhere except deep water. ...

I have been playing online at Angband.live. It has Tome 2.3.6-ah and has both the Theme and Fury modules as well.

I also never played Runecraft. I vaguely remember someone talking about the issue that putting more points into it led to weaker power. That would have been 15 years ago or so and the conversation has probably disappeared from the forum.

Congratulations! I gave up on getting it compiled on Ubuntu.
I haven't seen any bugs in the ah version. I have won a couple of times on it. The last version Dark God released was 2.3.5 and there have only been sporadic efforts to revise it since.

AFAIK 2.3.5 is the last stable release. That was ten years ago. There were people who worked on it after that but they didn't get far. I don't think I ever played 2.4.0. It can take up to six tries to generate a level with the relic. Of course it can happen on the first try, so if I find a ! of enlightenment and want the quest I will go try it. There is no reason that all the tries have to be taken at once.
