Re: Behold! A Gentoo Ebuild: The Time Is at Hand

Thanks for the heads-up, all! And especially Gentoo developer hasufell . In the interests of consistency, I've updated the raiagent ebuild with hasufell's helpful changes. Given hasufell's enthusiasm for adopting the ebuild, however, I'm happy to officially hand it over. While both the raiagent and ...

Re: Behold! A Gentoo Ebuild: The Time Is at Hand

Thanks to the dastardly duo (i.e., FTL and Cataclysm: DDA ), I appear to have missed a few world-shattering updates. To amend my lamentable ways, I've bumped the ebuild to support ToME4 1.0.3: A New Dawn. If upgrading from an older version, you'll probably confront a merge conflict. Overlay ...

Re: ToME off of Wikipedia

Well, simple fact is Wikipedia isn't meant to be a repository for all knowledge... As a wiki researcher, I'm afraid this is grossly incorrect. Wikipedia is intended to factually document all verifiable knowledge, a lofty goal it once accomplished pretty well. That's what an encyclopedia is, after a...

Re: ToME off of Wikipedia

Don't worry about stepping on my toes, if I didn't want people to modify it, I wouldn't have posted it here 8) . Great! I might have a crack at it. If I'm reading it right, it's the references that are bad, not the notability requirement. Using a source for information about itself is expressly all...

Re: ToME off of Wikipedia

Wikipedian Avs5221 just rejected the submitted article . The reason? Purportedly, that "This submission is not adequately supported by reliable sources." Frustratingly, this submission was adequately supported by reliable sources – including a prominent article from notable website Rock, P...

Re: Behold! A Gentoo Ebuild: The Time Is at Hand

Thanks for the helpful reply, greycat. Succinctly stated and spot on the money. I'm afraid source-based ToME4 compilation will continue to be a bit of a bear (...err, cat?) until SDL officially releases version 2.0. Until then, we're in the unenviable position of having to build against the moving g...

Re: Behold! A Gentoo Ebuild: The Time Is at Hand

Bump. Overlay raiagent now supports the recently released and much anticipated beta 43. Go grab some fun! :D If you receive fatal errors during compilation resembling: ../src/physfs/physfsrwops.c:161:19: error: ‘SDL_RWops’ has no member named ‘size’ Just update SDL2 and cohorts, and try again: emer...

Re: Blackscreen on Gentoo linux x64

Hi, skoffer. Thanks for cheerfully uncovering the issue in the other thread . I... I'm sorry. It's all my guilt-ridden fault! I've patched the b41 Gentoo ebuild on raiagent with the updated libpng dependency. Incidentally, did you say you tried the b42 Gentoo ebuild? I should probably just brutally ...

Re: Behold! A Gentoo Ebuild: The Time Is at Hand

I have now tried the new ebuild. With the jit USE flag it works OK. Without the jit flag it segfaults as it still needs MPROTECT disabling. Thanks for giving it a go, Grahammm. That's... odd. Perhaps ToME4 itself executes in-memory assembly irrespective of Lua JIT? I'll disable MPROTECT across the ...

Re: Behold! A Gentoo Ebuild: The Time Is at Hand

The problem turned out to be Gentoo related rather than Tome. It needed the MPROTECT PaX flag set on t-engine. Nice sleuthing. For the desperately curious amongst us (you're out there! I can feel you), the ToME4 build system enables a LuaJIT 2 compiler by default. If enabled, ToME4 runs LuaJIT 2 ru...

Re: Behold! A Gentoo Ebuild: The Time Is at Hand

@Grahammm Ugh. Ghg. Hgu. Orc leycec say, "That suck, bro." darkgod seems to be out of the house at the moment. This bug's probably in his court, I'm afraid. Beta 41's been running stably on my amd64 machine for a few days now, which makes diagnosing your fatal error somewhat challenging. (...

Re: Behold! A Gentoo Ebuild: The Time Is at Hand

I just removed the binary between install and merge phases of the ebuild... That works too. :D Another hopefully useful point: Although portage 2.1.x accepts keyword-expressions without the keyword to accept, 2.2.0 and later expect them. so: =category/package-version ~x86 ^^^-- cannot be omitted (a...

Re: Behold! A Gentoo Ebuild: The Time Is at Hand

@Vee Woops! Good catch. I blame the bug gnomes, damn their wee black hearts. "showimage" and "showfont" are silly test binaries and arguably shouldn't be installed (or even built) by default. I've shifted both to USE flags. If you haven't already hacked around it, the latest ebui...
