Re: Severe lag in 1.6

Thanks - it's still there (but less severe) in 1.5.10. Do I need to uninstall / reinstall?

Severe lag in 1.6

Hello all - jumped back into the game in version 1.6. I've having the game experience severe lag on me regularly (playing a summoner). No mods, no funny business. It hangs for up to 10 seconds before responding again. This makes the game basically unplayable (and deadly, for a roguelike). Do I need ...

Farportal Unlock Bosses Unusually Beefy?

I've been running a number of characters, and the boss when you unlock the farportals seems to be extremely buffed relative to what I remember. Is this new/normal? I pulled one with 3K health at level 20, and even a godlike Oozemancer who steamrollered the end fight struggled to win against it. Yes,...

Re: Necromancer Guide + Gameplay

I wrote a bunch of guides that I'd like to think are pretty accessible for players of all skill levels. You can find them here , I wrote the Inscriptions, Archer, Corruptor, Doomed, TW, PM, Sawbutcher, Gunslinger, and Psyshot guides. If you think any of them is too difficult to understand for newer...

Re: Necromancer Guide + Gameplay

I appreciate guides focused on explaining how classes work. Saying that you can do whatever you want on normal is a ridiculous statement: to start with, you can look at the copious data on how few players win the game. I've won the game with most classes (actually quite a few more than are listed; f...

Re: Necromancer Guide + Gameplay

I really do respect that people like to play games in different ways, and that the vets here really are focused on high difficulty builds. The dismissal of any guides for any normal-ish difficulty, however, really does highlight a problem with this approach. The obsession with "best builds"...

Re: Necromancer Guide + Gameplay

Good builds are universal across difficulties, excluding Madness, for the most part. Very few things are significantly better or worse on Insane. Just because a build can work on Nightmare (and this won didn't actually win), doesn't mean it's a good build on any difficulty. When I beat Nightmare wi...

Re: Out of combat positive/negative energy regeneration

You get a benefit from doing something tedious, and if you're not careful the autocast ends up doing something annoying like killing NPCs in towns. I think that +/- reserves should regen to full between battles, and that if they don't there should be a useful gameplay reason for it. Particularly at ...

Re: Early Game Bosses are Lacking. Game Dumbed Down.

This game is enjoyable precisely because it's an actual strategy game, one where you aren't "one-shotted" arbitrarily at normal difficulty. It's actually quite difficult to win, as objectively measured by the small percentage of winners in the vault. It's awful game design to make the star...

Re: Where can I read anything about the 1.5 Rogue rework?

An interesting idea - my biggest reservation is that stealth is really the current class defining feature, and making the class more fussy is quite a change in style. With so many classes in this game, it's nice to have them be more distinctive.

Re: Guide: Getting started with Insane

It's certainly possible that I'm simply rusty. But I've been having an awful lot of one-to-two round deaths with Ok classes (rogue, anorithil) - no deaths to anything but random rares, frequently in pairs. I did a run without rares (except for chests) and steamrollered through everything to dreadfal...

Re: Guide: Getting started with Insane

I'm finding it truly frustrating, to the point of losing interest in the game, that the random rares at all difficulties are the hardest fights in the game. It's bizarre that they're harder than the bosses (which is largely true); the game is designed around auto-explore, so avoiding them is very di...

Re: Flushing Achevements

Unfortunately you sometimes lose achievements. I had sporadic connection problems, and half of my winners ended up not getting registered as a result. I'd hoped that this had been fixed, but apparently not. Do your characters on the account match their online records?

Re: Will There Ever Be Balance?

Buffing weaker classes, or at least making them interesting, is fine.

Crippling classes that are too strong is bizarre for a single player game and should be avoided.
