Re: New Player Experience Improvements

There are far more important things to address for the new player experience, most new players have played some sort of game like this before and would know that adventurers are murderous bastards. Not only is this wrong, it's an exceedingly dangerous way of thinking. In terms of "classic rogu...

Re: New Player Experience Improvements

Reasons I don't like adventuring parties: 1. They are incredibly small maps with 2-5(?) elite mobs. Since they're randomly placed, sometimes you can fight them 1-by-1, and sometimes you start in sight of 3 of them. This drastically alters the difficulty of the fight in a way that generally can't hap...

Re: New Player Experience Improvements

1. Remove adventuring parties (this has the additional benefit of making the game better for everyone ). 2. All new games start by automatically opening the quest log. 3. Shaloren start in Elvala, not Scintillating Caves. 4. Upon receiving the rod of recall (killing the first boss), players receive ...

Re: [1.0.4] Roguelike Winner - Thalore Doomed

To be honest, I question what value the randomness provides. While the full area might be problematic in strength, the "directed" darkness of Dark Tendrils, which various modifiers gives by additional talents in the tree, could be worthwhile, tactical, and fun. In that sense, Dark Torrent ...

Re: [1.0.4] Roguelike Winner - Thalore Doomed

Creeping Darkness... works better in enclosed spaces, where there's less "choice" for the darkness to appear, so it's more concentrated works better if you cast it in advance of needing it, so the darkness has more time to fill up works best with Dark Vision, 300+ move speed bonus means y...

[1.0.4] Roguelike Winner - Thalore Doomed

http://te4.org/characters/1796/tome/8e4d0a22-73a8-4af3-94f4-6800083940ee Still no Atamathon, but I did beat the Room of Death for the first time. I'd like to reiterate what I said in my previous win --the Far East is really, really boring . The dungeons are huge, the enemies are numerous, and the fi...

Re: Newbie First Impressions

I'd just like to say that, as someone who has a game clear, I find Alchemist very unfriendly to use. For me, this is almost entirely due to how abysmal the UI for interacting with your golem is. Simply outfitting your golem is a nightmare. Basically, the game gives you a few different ways to achiev...

[1.0.4] Random Cultist event bugs if you one-shot a cultist

A few notes: - Damaging a cultist's bone shield does not aggro their faction - Mana clashing a cultist with bone shield up does not aggro their faction - One-shotting a cultist once their bone shield is down does not aggro their faction Beginning the timed event while the cultists are not aggro'd to...

[1.0.4] In game chat-client bugs out

http://imgur.com/cGalJ1g (Yes I have a lot of tabs open.) I *believe* this happens whenever a message large enough to be multi-line is sent in chat. If you look at the messages between the in-game chat client and the website chat client, you can see I'm missing grmblfzzz's message entirely. It's act...

Re: Let's Discuss: Bathe in Light

Making it instant would certainly improve its power in a combat setting, but it would remain (perhaps even moreso than now) as a predominately one-point wonder used to auto-generate positive while out of combat. My intent was never really to buff Bathe in Light, per se (although it could probably us...

The proposed version only heals friendly units, like Turtle Grand Arrival.

Re: Let's Discuss: Bathe in Light

One big effect would be that it'd deal a heavy blow to Undead Celestials, who wouldn't be able avoid it on their way to Barrier and Providence. Now, making it a sustain would be a different story. To that I'd say "sure, why not!" A good point. I guess I would say is it necessary that it h...

Let's Discuss: Bathe in Light

Celestial/Light is a fantastic tree, let's be perfectly clear. Many characters rely on getting an Anorithil or Seer escort for some kind of burst healing. Some people grab Healing Light straight up, and some grab the entire tree, but does anyone ever grab Bathe in Light? Now, Bathe in Light has two ...

Why is health regen so bad?

Tome in general seems to err on the side of uselessly low permanent (or sustainable) regen effects. You commonly see equipment with things like "+0.7 health regen", and Fast Metabolism gives you 5 health regen at the cost of 5 whole points! Tome is not really a game of long-term attrition....

[1.0.4] Pets are not warped into the Zigur arena

This bug can be debilitating for classes like the Doomed that can't reacquire shadows from scratch instantly. The shadows attempt to warp to me, but you can't warp into the arena, so they just keep failing (which is sort of strange because thought-forged guys seem to have no trouble popping in).
