Re: Afraid to even suggets this, but...
It would make the game easier, that's for sure. Just find a trap tile and maneuver the opponent onto it, instant DoT.

Re: Online Profile...whats the point?
In windows vista and 7, if you place your ToME files inside the "Program Files" directory, you need to run ToME as an Administrator in order to get permission to write in the program files directory.

Re: More Noob Questions
Frumple, I disagree. My thinking is that if people are asking regularly about a particular feature-set, then lack of those features *is* an issue, and an important one. None of these frequently asked questions impinge upon game balance, they just make the UI friendlier, which is a big deal in a rogu...

Re: Dumb questions thread
Point the mouse pointer at the history log window and you can scroll it up and down with the wheel. This requires a mousewheel. is there a way to do it on a laptop with a touchpad and 2 buttons? Can you not connect an external mouse with a wheel to it? I'm generally on the couch, where mousy things...

Re: New Class: Illusionist
MMMmmm. Illusionist. Only comment I really have is that I'm not sure that in roguelikes, classes should be balanced at all (unless you count, "Yes, you really can beat nethack with a tourist," balanced). You don't balance classes in roguelikes because they're part of what allows the player...

Re: Dumb questions thread
It does, but I'd have to re-install the software. Any PC of mine gets an operating system re-install as soon as I get it out of the box. I don't see a need for the gigs of advertising programs put on by the major manufacturers and since this is the only time lack of a mousewheel has ever come up, it...

I'm rather fond of EMACS. It has a LUA mode (and everything else you could conceivably want in a program that deals with text). The learning curve is very roguelike:

I always thought the Trollish (Trollac? Trollian?) Shakespear sounded more like this:
Code: Select all
I will eat, will eat one whole Goat!
I will eat, will eat one whole Boat!
I do so like them Dwarf You Are,
I do so like Green Jellies and Human!

Re: Opinion on Lovecraftian monsters
I would love to see a horrific side-quest and dungeon that deals with cthulu-oid monstrosities - have the first few levels of the dungeon be cultists, the second few be cultists and monsters and the last few be monsters and abberations. In normal areas of the world, there should be a small chance of...

Built-in Notebook
I'd love to see something like this. Just a little scratch-pad where you can jot down notes important to that character, even in character. Things like "Found a room that's likely a monster room on Trollshaws level 2, come back later for it" Can I just use notepad or EMACS or whatever? Sur...
