My suggestion would be, guarantee (at least) one escort of each type.

Then if your Anorithil gets eaten by Wrathroot or The Master or something, you have a failsafe in Worldy Knowledge. But at least every char has a fair chance of getting every escort reward.

For #2, was there also an enemy in line of sight? Over time escorts have changed from hopelessly suicidal to hopelessly paranoid (although the latter is a big improvement, to be sure!).

Dominant will used to have a ton of bugs like this, but eventually got sorted out. Might want t look at what its code does to ensure that charmed mobs still count as "killed."

I tried Elemental Harmony a long time ago and wasn't impressed, but you're right that +40% speed is well worth 6 generic and 1 cat point. Will test.

Why Yeek Archmage? I won't claim that Yeek is the optimal race for an archmage. It's certainly not the easiest race and class to play, particularly in the early- and mid-game; if you're first starting out, I'd recommend looking at an alchemist, skeleton archmage, or corrupter instead. This thing shouldn't be a trap at all. It doesn't make any thematic sense, doesn't match the talent description at all, and makes for unfun gameplay ==> triple fail.

He only helps if you leave the beach "normally." If you Recall out of a bugged beach, he has no additional dialogue.

From the log it appears that the game is refusing to generate the Orb of Many Ways because it believes it already has somewhere else. This shoudn't be possible since the Orb is tagged as a quest artifact; that is the root bug here. If you had the full game log you could see exactly where the Orb was...
