Re: Resisting Confusion
Glory of the Pride, probably the finest of all rings for physical damage characters, gives 100% confusion resistance. That's usually what I rely on if I'm not playing a class that has passives/auras granting confusion resist. Of course, it's usually not found till much farming is done.

Re: Randarts...
Well they *should* be substantially rarer. And appear less in duplicate and triplicate. The commoness of randarts at the moment is only offset by their uselessness. They should be both useful and rare. Remember that a double-ego is far from guaranteed to be that great either, so there's still a sig...

Re: warriors and paired weapons
I'll agree that it's fun to have crossover skills for a given class, but as ToME is class-based at the moment, it stands to give each class sets of exclusive, iconic skills. Maybe dual-wielding wouldn't be such a game-breaking addition if it were to become a learn-able skill, but not my any measure ...

Re: Berserker: which category at level 30?
I personally am a huge proponent of Field Control for one single reason: Track. It is the single best detection ability in the game, and is far, far superior to Arcane Eye. Knowing what is coming at you increases survivability immeasurably, and all it takes is a single generic point. No need to real...

Re: Grgglck the Devouring Darkness Unkillable
Sometimes it really takes its time to summon tentacles, and even then you have to kill something around 10 of them. I met it once in a vault in Tol Falas, and I had to kite it around the dungeon a couple of times before it summoned enough tentacles for it to eventually die. This was in beta 15b, so ...

Yup! Have fun with it. Here's some advice: follow the lore, and it's really only difficult the first time.Omega Blue wrote:Puzzles?

[15b] Anorithil Issues
I've got a level 25 one, and it's pretty fun so far. Blasting things with both light and darkness (and the not-so-occasional fire spell, Firebeam) is lots of fun. No super major issues so far, but I'd just like to put forth a few things I think that could improve. 1. Dark spells are FAR more powerfu...

Re: Ruined dungeon
Other than the occasional naga psyren at level 7 (from painful personal experience
) the place is pretty doable as long as you're very careful during early character levels, and somewhat careful in later levels.

Re: Telepathy attribute on randarts is misleading
I think it's pretty descriptive as deamon is the only major type of enemy that has subtypes minor/major - and if it were subtype deamon, then that would mean its doubly as powerful as if it were telepathy minor or telepathy major. That sounds the same as saying "grants telepathy: green, red&qu...

Telepathy attribute on randarts is misleading
I was all excited when I found some iron gauntlets that had the attributes "grants telepathy: minor, major," and then only found that they detect demons. It certainly would be OP if they granted full telepathy to everything, but in light of the actual effect, it should state "grants t...

Re: [b13] Wrap up: Haldor, Skeleton Archmage
Congrats on your first win!
I only played an archmage in the very early betas, and never explored the temporal realm. Time Prison sounds pretty broken though.
And is that a spare blood of life in your inventory?

Opinion on Lovecraftian monsters
I just thought I'd put out my opinion on the Lovecraftian-themed monsters. I guess they're often also referred to as aberrations, although I'm not totally certain as I've only skimmed Lovecraft's books, and they all seem to be charnel-house this, stench-of-death that, tentacled eldritch unimaginable...
