Re: Replace escorts with an EoR-like system
That'd mean getting rid of the sandworm lair entirely, it's about ten million times more aggravating than escorts diving headfirst into zone bosses or whatever  Seriously tho', so long as the game's winnable without them (and it is, you can murder every single escort and dodge the lair entirely...

Re: Replace escorts with an EoR-like system
Eh, I just play with escorts enhanced these days. Gives 'em some regen and has them stick close to you instead of lemming themselves into the unknown. Saved (and.lost) probably hundreds of escorts with the vanilla system and it's... fine. Not great, but you get used to it. Just often more frustratin...

Re: ToME mentioned in this long history of roguelikes
Edit: One of the truly great, truly genius innovations of modern Rogue-likes was getting rid of that damned food/hunger and sleep aspects. God I hated those so much. If ToME still had those, I'd have quite pretty quickly. For what it's worth, I've seen a food/sleep mechanic implemented pretty decen...

Re: Ordering Auto-use talents
I'm not aware of any in the base game, but there does appear to be some addons that add priority and whatnot to auto-use. Couldn't recommend any, though, as I've never used them -- couldn't say which are good, or even currently functioning. Quick search for auto in the addons page should pull some s...

Re: [1.6] Challenge run - minimum point allocation - Hound T
I mean, most significant (50%+) slows do, more or less? The diminishing returns on slow are pretty harsh, the actual effect of a 260% slow isn't much more than, say, a 60% one. It does slow more , but not by a huge amount, iirc. Want to say the difference is like 15-20% in the global reduction, whic...

Re: Are they really invincible ??
There may be a very small number of NPCs that truly are unkillable. If I remember correctly, the Grand Corruptor and his allies become unkillable after helping them destroy Zigur., but they aren't hostile to you at that point. That's the only example that comes to mind though. They're only invincib...

Re: Awoken tentacle tree
Yeah, dunno. The only thing that could be causing it is them getting the "worm" attribute somehow, if they haven't picked up affinity. The carrion worm's shtick doesn't heal you because of infection, it heals you because infection grants the worm attribute. So if the trees are healing with...

Re: 1.6.6 Insane Stealth/Throwing Knives Rogue Guide
I play almost exclusively on normal difficulty :P It's usually not that hard to get +20-30 by your first prodigy, or +40 or better by your second. You do have to keep an eye out, and maybe murder some adventurer parties or do some farportal runs, but most of the time I don't have much trouble pullin...

Re: [1.6.7] Bristlebarb - Thorn class
Heh. Awesometoss or old-school beyond the flesh. Slayers used to have the thing where you could dance around something without breaking wild speed for stupid amounts of damage, too, and it was also just sorta' passive. Bbarb's interaction there is super reminiscent.

Re: 1.6.6 Insane Stealth/Throwing Knives Rogue Guide
Prodigies (and most other things, really) care about your current stats, not your baseline, and very few things stop working if you lose the requirements after you learn the talent or put on the equipment. Nevermind 26 or so, getting 40+ magic (or whatever) on your equipment by the time you can get ...

Re: So what to do about The Master's infinite summons (bug?)
If there's anything causing it, I'd guess it's the lines going summon = { {type="undead", number=2, hasxp=true}, }, having some kind of odd interaction with create minions. Normally that seems to be in place to put some sort of limit or modifier on the NPC summon talent some critters have,...

Re: Demonologist vs Demonologist - Demon seed drops
Demonologists have other talents besides demon seed :P Including stuff that interacts with demon seed, really. Same with tinkers (which if you finagled things so steam generators still didn't drop, would be fairly limited so far as the fancy stuff goes). Alch and mindslayer would be a straight upgra...

Re: Demonologist vs Demonologist - Demon seed drops
*raises finger* Why limit it to demonologists being able to get them, though? Open it up to everyone, heck, let tinkers join the fun, too. While you're at it, alchemists could have a chance to drop relevant kit with gems stuck in 'em, afflicted could drop cursed stuff, mindslayers could have their d...

Re: [1.6.6.] The Untouchable ghoul Paradox Mage against Madn
Eh... neither of those are instant talents, right? Pretty sure retch takes up a turn, if it hasn't changed at some point. If you're expending a turn to get the global speed mitigation you're dealing with some degree of functional global speed penalty regardless. Still losing turns, heh. Seems more l...

Re: Move through friendlies while dazed?
It's been around forever, so I'd assume it would have to be intentional. I think the rational is the friendcritter is the one moving you if you're not able to, or something along those lines. Tiles are very fuzzy things anyway in terms of distance, just assume stuff is getting in the way and functio...
