ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

I'm afraid that I don't have a tool or any scrolls/books to teleport. Should I just give up on this character?

I have a ent swordmaster who was haplessly wandering through the trees on lvl 9 of the barrowdowns when a dragon appeared and burned all the trees around me, which I apparently can't walk through. Is there any way that I might be able to get out?
