About 15 years. Played Moria for a while. Discovered Angband. Played a long time. Then I saw the light and was introduced to ToME, 3 years ago (?). I had my first and only win with an Ent Monk last fall. I haven't played since then, even if I am tempted by "Theme". I never was a regular. I...

Interesting. I second that. Otherwise, Tales. But I really like the T* idea :-)

Voted yes too. I like ASCII in ToME, but I too believe it would attract other kind of players. It probably would be very good for ToME's future.

btw, Neil's link to sdl screenshots is... *wow* :-)

Re: Publicity is needed for TomeNET

Moltor mentioned the game was publicized on Slashdot.org at least once. I did that twice. Last time was http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=89788&cid=7755830 which was modded up to the maximum (+5, interesting) (this is important if you want anybody to read about your slashdot comment). The fir...

I have never won. But I feel my actual character is going to make it :-). I have found what I believe to be *The Flaw of ToME", more on this later...

I dunno about balance. I always play semi-pure-warriors. I do not feel it is too easy. One thing is certain, I won't go back to Vanilla. ToME has so much more to offer than Classic. The flaws of ToME are quickly forgotten by benefits. Also, the future of ToME looks (to me) brighter than Classic.

This is strange. DG says «Die feet die», and you, feet-only. Mushrooms of Hallucination anybody ? ;-)

How would that work with dungeons where you don't really go up or down? I always imagined that in the cases of Mirkwood and the Old Forest, going 'deeper' would simply be a case of 'closer to the heart of'. Similar for the barrow downs, as weren't they just a bunch of ancient burial mounds in the b...

Die feet die ! Oopps. :-) If DG himself says this, I guess I'll be stucked in a vault soon! ;-) Ok, but then, using integers for level up and down ? Why not just change "feet" to "meters". Meeting Sauron at "level 50" makes less sense (to me) than to meet him at 2500 m...

Dungeon levels in ToME: revamping desired ?

Ok, I care more about the discussion than the poll itself. I feel something is wrong. Wanted to see if I'm alone thinking this or if other players agree. Thanks :-) Personnally, I really dislike levels in integer from 0 to 100. Doesn't give me a sense of deepness. Also, I feel it should change depen...

I play ASCII. I like tiles but it usually isn't compiled for MacOS X - I'm accustomed to ASCII ToME anyway :-) :-) You know what, even if I believe I will keep playing ASCII, I am convinced the lack of great graphics is THE MAIN REASON why ToME, a *great, really great* game, has not attracted more p...

Hint: look at the beginning of the Silmarillion, then at the beginning of Fellowship of the Ring. Hook up Beleriand to what's left of it in third-age Middle Earth, and you've got the perfect map. That's right. Only one map could do for Beleriand and post-Beleriand (Middle-Earth). Cut what's west of...

ToME Wilderness map - big enough for the big boys ?

Do you find ToME's map big enough ? I believe it is. For now. I don't know about ToME 3, but I feel expanding the map resolution would be a good thing (tm). Why ? - Allow more... wilderness ! - Allow more towns (Tharbad, Edoras, Grey Havens, etc.) without overfilling the map. - Allow more dungeons a...
