Since a couple releases, the sandworm queen can be generated in the middle of the sand due to a bug. So you need to DIG every square. And remember, sometimes there's an alternate boss generated.

The game has always crashed on me the first time you run it, whatever version you use since day one. You don't need to redownload or reinstall, just kill the process and restart the game. Probably some check at start that fails the first time the game is installed (file? registry entry?).

ASCII is quite ugly with the engine. It works better with oldschool roguelike like ADOM or Angband, although these also take the graphical route nowadays...

Doesn't matter, because at level 30, the enemies would be even deadlier, because of scaling.
