My last character stopped just after Tannen's Tower or Tannen's dungeon (no deaths up to that point iirc).
With the extra experience from insane difficulty, the character level has essentially maxed by this time and I'm no longer motivated for the gameplay repetition of the 3 other prides and the slime tunnels just to get to the final fight. Perhaps improvement after 50 (like I think there is in the endless dungeon) would keep the interest as it's always nice to improve as you go along in abilities. There also was a thread on making the east a bit more interesting - which might be good. I always thought that there should be a short-cut to the final fight once you reach 50.
My game goals have evolved to more or less just seeing how a build works up to the point where no new skill addition occurs.
This is so strange to me, because I'm actually at the opposite end of this; I love gaining prodigies and skills super fast, and in fact I found my last winner (an Ogre Cursed) to be a bit of a slog because it took forever to hit 42. I love having as many dungeons as possible to run around in at close to maximum power (42 in my case) and collecting as many artifacts as possible. Different strokes, I guess.
