I for one would love to see them back. Beorn was always one of my favorites of yours, and once Werrix is up to taking on Angband I might do one in the same style. For right now I've just been DitLing the main events, but something more in-depth would be good if Werrix turns out to be a winner.
Is there some legal/moral/other reason why we can't port some of the Tome 2 stuff over from the Wayback Machine, maybe a sub-wiki or something? Or does DarkGod want to keep it to just T4 stuff?
UPDATE:
UGH, I'm disgusted with myself. The RNG giveth, and the Fat-Fingered-Human-Moron taketh away.
Sting was up to level 37, with four realms and none of them Earth. Werrix was getting 12 blows/round and doing over 1100 damage per turn, and after swapping into a Brown Thunderlord body from a Princess quest we had over 1800 HP and permanent +20 speed, with 1-mana teleport and phase door, even when blinded/confused. He took on Saruman without batting an eye, and was plinking away with a stack of artifact bolts and a Heavy Crossbow of the Haradrim until things got close enough to feel the wrath of his blade. Sting made the whole mid-game easy, in a way that I rarely get to experience.
Cue the last couple levels of Mordor. Werrix had just finished a particularly nasty batch of Druj. I should have known something was about to go wrong when I got three quests in a row for Saruman, 11 Hand Druj, and 20 Eye Druj (scattered everywhere, a la Fumblefingers). The last batch was particularly nasty, and even with undead ESP it sucked. I had to resort to spamming my racial Breathe Fire attacks from just out of LOS to get the job done.
It wasn't the bloody Druj that made me scream, though. It was my own carelessness that forever ended my killing spree. I usually just use a stack of ID scrolls and have them inscribed {@r1} to make things easier, so ID-ing an object on the ground was "r1-a". On this trip, Saruman was kind enough to drop a Rod Tip of Perception and some nice hardware to attach it to, so I switched to that and ditched the scroll pile. My fingers, on the other hand, still remembered the "read scroll 1 at the floor" combination and decided to just go with that.
You can see where this is going. I step onto a pile of tasty loot, which includes a couple of rings and a scroll that I haven't come across before or that I haven't *ID*d yet. I had gotten hit with a memory loss spell earlier, so maybe it was that. Either way, it didn't get squelched by the automatizer.
An un-ID-ed scroll? Oh, let's just ID it... (r1-a)... There's no longer any scrolls by that number in my inventory... so it reads the one on the ground. Here's what I see next...
Code:
A terrible black aura blasts your Small Sword 'Sting' (E:75482, L:37) (1d6) (+33,+19) (+3 to speed) {.}!
You see no more Scrolls of Curse Weapon.
Also, though not in-game...
Code:
MasterShizzle points at his monitor and curses! <7x>
So I'm now the proud owner of a Shattered Small Sword (0d0) (-8, -5) {cursed}.
