How many points is optimal in solipsism? I think for a yeek, your health pool is so pitiful that 5/5 might be a good investment. However, I've been experimenting with a Thalore Solipsist on nightmare roguelike, stacking +health items, and at the stage of the game he died (old forest orc band), health and psi totals were both around 200, meaning if I assume a Solipsism threshold of 50% (which was not yet the case but would be endgame) and I want to use at least half the remainder on offense, that leaves me with a 25% psi-to-health ratio. Does this hold into the endgame, when my threshold would actually be 50% and not 20%? Furthermore, what other defensive abilities can a solipsist afford? Leaves tide is a given, and requires minimal commitment beyond 500g, but is full-bore antimagic worth the already very thinly spread generics, especially on Thalore? Can I afford to max the Thalore saves skill given the extra utility of mental saves on a solipsist?

4/5 is fairly safe, 5/5 might be good depending on gear and race. Yeek especially might prefer 5/5.

So you don't think there's anything to keeping it deliberately low out of fear of the threshold? Also, is antimagic worth it?

Since you mentioned playing on NM you most likely have more experience on the class than I do, as I've only won on Normal mode Solipsist.
Here's my build: http://te4.org/characters/62644/tome/5d ... 1c59e61bf2

I gotta say it was pretty much a cakewalk the whole time. The only death I got was the self sacrifice at the end.

The extra saves from Thaloren racial I bet would be golden. I don't think I suffered from many effects on the course of my game just because of high saves.

As for the solipsism treshold, the Crimson Robe upped it even further but I didn't suffer from it too often. The Yeek speed remedied it a bit too.

On Antimagic I'd say yes, but still, I only did normal.

Wow your gear is incredible. What'd you think of the Psychic Assault build? I was trying to build for Dream Smith, and it was really fun, but didn't work with thought-forms since you need such precise positioning, and the hammer toss damages them. Distortion could be good considering the "shape your effects to not damage allies" feature. What would you think of redirecting 4 points out of psiblades and into the fungus tree? Also, I assume Thalore is more powerful once maxed out, but I have to say the fast leveling of yeek is appealing, and I'm wondering if yeek might not be equally effective.

Psychic Assault tree is like slicing a bread with a chainsaw.
The Thought Forms lose their effectiveness a bit at later levels. If I were to play Solipsist again I would prolly trickle the points away from Thought Forms into something more usable.. unless you want to be extra careful and utilize the forms as scouts and boss softeners.

On the Mindstar thing I wouldn't take the points out, even if you don't plan on hitting anything, since the Mindstar mastery ups the Wil and Cun bonuses on your Mindstars which in turn make you more effective with everything.

And ups the mindpower bonus found on the mindstars.

I think thoughtforms are more important for a feedback build. Take it just far enough to get feedback from the thoughtforms and have access to all three so you can cycle the two that go into melee and take hits and you can feed the discharge tree without getting yourself killed.

When you play without them though, you realise how helpful they are. things like switching places and drawing away attacks from rogues etc, mean they help you a lot. and the speed from archer is great. at lvl 50, a thought-from archer can do a lot of dmg too.

On thought forms I tend to invest enough to have all three forms and make them a feedback source. Having a suicidal minion that generates feedback for you makes it easier to use the active feedback talents.
