Hello everyone! One more test upload before the real-deal big thing gets uploaded.

This time, I truly DO feature you a "Quality of Life" pack. It adds light particle effects to certain temporary effect subtypes, creating MUCH more visual feedback for status effects.

*** Some examples:
Poison ~ "Green bubbles" will begin emitting from their head.
Blind ~ A "crossed-out eye" will appear over them.
Stun/confusion ~ "Dizzy stars" spin around their head.
(And MUCH more!)

In general, I feel this is an extremely useful feature that has been lacking, and now, I hardly ever play ToME without it.

Anywho, now it's yours to enjoy as well... So... Enjoy! :D

Edit: Oops! I forgot to link the actual download lol

Get it here: http://te4.org/games/addons/tome/neka_qol01

This sounds awesome, I'm going to download it right away.

Two things, though.

Generally when linking an add on that has already been uploaded to te4.org someone will just paste the URL for the add on in here, as so: http://te4.org/games/addons/tome/neka_qol01.

That's what it's there for, after all! (Plus, it avoids uploading your file to the te4 server twice :D )
It will also let players see the rating, how many downloads it has had, and any comments you may have received (such as that one from DarkGod  ).

Also, after having uploaded your add on, you can log into your account on te4.org (same login you use when you launch ToME) and then you will be given the option to 'edit' your add on's page (the page linked above). On the edit screen you can add a link to the forum discussion thread (i.e. this one) that will appear just below the "See Addon Usage in Character Vault" link. (Because, while you can have comments on your add on page, this is generally a better venue for active discussions.)

The other thing is off topic, again, but this just reminded me of something you may need to watch out for: file size. I believe the limit for uploads to te4.org is around 5mb (based on the OldRPG Tile Set file sizes). I think you should be fine for Odyssey of the Summoner (assuming it's still around 4mb), but if it grows any more you may want to consider splitting it into parts.

@nsrr
Ooooo... This is all EXCELLENT to know!
Thankfully, OoTS is currently JUST under 5MB atm (and if it gets higher, I know how to shrink it)

Okay, this is GREAT! I was wondering how I was going to post a file that would update itself-- But if people typically just download from the URL, that makes my life A LOT easier!

Just wanted to chime in since you haven't had a lot of comments here, this mod has made my play experience so much better. No more tedious mouseovers to check status effects!

+1

I said before that it looked like a great idea; now that I've been using it for a while, I can honestly say that I would recommend it to anyone and everyone playing ToME. Personally, I will never play without it again (unless DG steals it all and folds it into base ToME, of course  ).

I'll join in the praise pile-on; this has quickly become one of the addons I can no longer even imagine playing without.

Wow... Thanks everyone! Who'd have thought it would be the simple add-on that blows everyone away the most?

I think I've managed to cover all the "effects" that one would consider dangerous and noteworthy... But is there any others I might have missed? I'm wondering if "Blood Lock" or "Curse of Death" need particle-warnings as well, since both can cause healing to function incorrectly.

Just to chime in my praises as well  (and probably, maybe, eventually, I'll be having huge plans for it's future, muahahaha... ahem, yes, great addon that :)).

Not sure if this addon uses shaders correctly, because at high levels with this addon, the game grinds to a halt. no other addon in use, which is why I"m wondering if this one is causing the problem....
