Playing again

Re: Playing again
Eh. Primal infusion is pretty bad. Also, it seemed like you didn't have any +hp items. Also, if you're dying pre 30, shalore probably isn't the best race to play. They're mostly offensive until level 24 and also have a low life rating.

Re: Playing again
I thought Primal Infusion was bad but I found it and I didn't find any good physical wilds (I had been using a 17 turn one).
Maybe I try Human or Dwarf again next. But with Dwarf I want to try StoneWarden and they are kinda boring.
There was a constitution based heroism I should have gotten, I am not sure if that would have allowed me to beat the queen though. (not sure if traps would have either).
I think I didn't get so many breaths before, maybe the queen uses other things close?

Re: Playing again
Heroism is fantastic.
Queen almost always opens with sand breath for me.

Re: Playing again
I Think it was the third sandbreath that killed me.
Re: Playing again
She can be accompanied by sand wyrms IIRC.

Re: Playing again
Yeah, and they are not problems. But my theory is that she uses Sandbreath at distance and I Didn't close because I was fighting the sandworms, so I got 3 sandbreaths in too short of time for me to handle the damage. (Sandbreath goes against Physical save? Any case, I didn't have Physical Resists or Armor or Physical Save high enough).
Re: Playing again
It's just a wait at the stairs,
until the ground starts to sha-a-a-a-ake.
Then she tunnels across;
she has dinner to ma-a-ake!
But when she blinds you,
you quickly climb away-ay-ay-ay-ay!
Let's do the stair dance again!

Re: Playing again
Never had problems with the Queen before, previously my problems in the Sand level had to do with mobility.
Re: Playing again
ArcaneBlade is suppose to be strong, but I can't seem to make it work. I think the issue is escapes?
Re: Playing again
So I have defeated the level 2 dungeons for the first time. I think I look for the rich merchant and maybe try to fix my itemization? I really would like another regeneration and movement and should probably change the phase shift to a teleport.

Any obvious itemization changes I should do? What needs fixing other than the belt and shoes?

Re: Playing again
I did very well, was in a tough fight and decided to retreat. Used my teleport and ended up deep in a wall. Maybe should have remembered an item but probably none of them could have been used in time before I sufocated. It is the furthest I have ever gotten and I was pretty confident in Dreadfall (didn't need to run usually, monster that I decided to run from was only difficult because of his repeatedly confusing me).
Re: Playing again
Did I miss an obvous tool that I could have used to escape? Or to survive?
I think the problem is that I was out of phase and then did a teleport?
It is making me rethink teleports (if I don't find out what the problem was).

Re: Playing again
About teleports: Teleports are ok escapes. Their only problem is lack of control of where you land. Teleports don't put you in walls. It wasn't clear from your post where this happened. If it was sandworm tunnels you were just very unlucky about where you landed. If it was a rock wall in Dreadfell or somewhere else it is a bug.
About items: On normal difficulty you don't need to worry about gear slots early game. I just buy decent inscriptions (and sometimes masteries) as soon as possible and otherwise use items I find in dungeons for all gear slots. Late game I shop for any slot I didn't get good drops for throughout the game.
About confusion: It's bad against very dangerous opponents, but I often just ignore it and accept the 50% failure rate until it wears off in early levels on normal difficulty. (e.g. minor melee rare uses confusion on sight. I walk away with 50% success rate. He takes the entire duration of confusion to catch up to me. Then it expires and I kill him as normal.)

Re: Playing again
Thanks.
I was in dreadfall, and it was my best run. And I felt strong in dreadfall.
I am going to take a break for a bit.
The opponent had a lot of HP so I got him to half but had a bit to wait for my heals and he hit hard... so I decided to 'quake' and escape. The quake worked properly putting him into an enclosed room but the teleport didn't.
I had used burrow to increase my physical penetration and it was on a long cooldown. I think I had used a charm, but maybe my boots could have been used? (I was n't wearing them). I did have like 3-4 turns until I suffocated. I mostly tried to dig.

Re: Playing again
I had a very nice mindslayer that disappeared with a save. Second time I got fortress.
Interestingly I unlocked Skirmisher.
