[b19] First b19 win: Shalore Doomed, Roguelike

#1 Post by eronarn »

I started this character mainly to try to get unlocks, but I ended up winning somehow. Not sure if anyone won a Doomed before the character vault went up - couldn't find any win reports to that effect.

Maybe it's just me, but it felt like more artifacts and blues were dropping, and I definitely ended up with utterly ridiculous gear/stats. I beat the Orc ambush after Dreadfell with little difficulty, and after that I only felt like I was in an "emergency" maybe twice - which didn't matter that much, since I still had the Blood of Life.

After Dreadfell I just kind of rushed through the game because I was getting bored. I skipped the dungeons in the Far East, other than the portal quest, and did the outdoor prides in about 5 minutes each with a Controlled Phase Door rune (I can't imagine someone not spending a category point on one).

The boss fight was ridiculous. Aeryn became hostile because she damaged me while she had Empathic Hex up, so I had to blink around the level. One of the pair went down fast, but the other had two phase door runes, a movement rune, a regen infusion, and possibly also a wild infusion. Since he had the new ranged attacker AI, he'd use phase door if I got within 3 tiles of him. It took me over two hours of attempts to kill him.

I definitely can't recommend Doomed. My Corruptor win was much more fun, and while it felt overpowered, it was at least consistent. The nature of Doomed talents means that they can kill a boss without even getting hit but have difficulty killing ghouls.

Yes, this class doesn't do enough damage for b19. It was designed to be more defensive to handle the overpowered attacks of previous betas. Now damage is lower, healing dominates the game and its not hard to go into a 20 minute battle against a boss. Doomed is way underpowered to make that fun. Most of the talents will need to do more damage. Area attacks especially need to go up in damage. With all of the vaults in the game, it just takes too long to work through all the monsters. b19 feels so off in balance that I'm not sure how the next release will play. I'm not sure how much change will be needed.

I am much reducing the power of infusions on NPCs and increasing their CD for next release
[tome] joylove: You can't just release an expansion like one would release a Kraken XD
