I like the idea of ID. I mean only dungeons, always dungeon.

But what always kept me away from ID, if the "infinity" of it... It's kind of pointless to play this mode.

I hope you could add an "end" to it (of course with the possibility to continue after the "end", for the more extreme players):
- Maybe level 50 or 100
- Maybe a Mega boss.
- Maybe retrieve prisoners at level X, etc..

This way I'm sure i'll play ID.
(And as a nice bonus, characters could be registred as "winners" for ID in character vaults.

Bump and Grind: Defeat all enemies using auto melee attacks only.
It's ya Birthday: Take no steps while equipped in armor.
Precision Tormentor: Reduce the HP of 20 enemies down to 10% or less without killing them.
Obsessive Cartography Disorder: Step onto every possible tile of this floor.
Headhunter: Kill only Rare, Unique, and Boss enemies on this floor.
To Be Born Again: Drop all gear in your inventory and leave it behind. Note:[something like this would probably reward a prodigy point]

Upside Down: Turn the entire screen and UI upside down (180 degree turn, controls stay as-is)
Dizzy: Random rotations of 45º to the camera/screen/UI at random intervals (controls stay as-is)

this is so fun

Blow Up the Ocean!!: Kill 20 enemies with Torque effects. (Borderlands 2 reference :lol: )
What Am I Gonna Do With So Much Attention?: Get hit by 8 enemies on the same turn.
Not Exactly Canon: Kill all vampires with your bare hands.
Heartbreak's Fallout: Kill only enemies of the opposite sex. (Fallout perk reference)
Thank You Sir, Can I Have Another?: Take a total of 10,000 damage from the floor's Boss enemies.
Delayed Gratification:Have no more than 2 skills on cool down at any given time.

I think what's really cool about these challenges is that you can actually put more than one of them on a floor at any given time to up the difficulty and make the reward better potentially

i got more even stranger than the others

Don't Kill Jill/Will: Locate your unfaithful wife/husband and their 3 henchmen. Assassinate the 3 henchmen but leave your spouse alive at 20% HP or less.
Manga "Protaganism": Kill 20 enemies with a headbutt attack.
Vowels and Havoc: Only deal AoE damage to enemies.
I Ch-Ch-Choose You: Only kill enemies that have been frozen recently (within 3 turns), using single target skills.
Red Panty Night: Kill all Male enemies with your bare hands.

on a bad display so maybe i'll missed some of this up - also probably no color codes

Wax On, Wax Off: Alternate each kill between your first and alternate equipment sets.
Eco-friendly: Don't use a lite and never fall below 90% of max equipped ammunition.
Inspect Your Gadgets: Disarm all traps from this floor. Kill 10 enemies using traps.
Loads of Lacerations: Kill 20 enemies using spinning attacks or attacks that cause bleed.
Ugh! Not this one again: Kill 3 enemies using friendly fire.

Stylish Kill: Use a Movement skill in order to move, immediately following any turn where you've killed an enemy.
One Weird Trick... :Kill 20 enemies using the same Rune ability.
XenoGermaphobe: Avoid melee range with all enemies. Don't pick up any items on this floor. Kill all enemies.
You Can Leave Your Hat On: Full clear this floor wearing only headgear.
Foot Fetish: Full clear this floor wearing only boots.
I Feel So Funky: Full clear this floor wearing only Slime covered gear. (min 3 pieces)
Grimlin Mancer: Kill 20 enemies using Object abilities. (King's Bounty reference :lol: )

Rewards Ideas:

I was thinking that some special, non random elements could be applied to rewards so that players can actually plan their builds with challenges in mind. I was thinking the rewards could scale up based on how many consecutive challenges a player completes. (non repeatable)

Consecutive Count
5 = A randart weapon with 1 fixed mod on it that reads: Gains a new on hit ability for every 7th floor cleared
10 = a randart armor with 1 fixed mod on it that reads: +20 life per floor cleared.
20 = a randart torque with 1 fixed mod on it that reads: When equipped/worn... 50% chance that ego items will upgrade to random artifacts when dropped by enemies
30 = Special Wig artifact helmet. 1 of several manga character inspired hair-dos each with a unique effect:

Son Goku: Unarmed attacks have range 3, 50% chance knockback, stun and daze
Caped Baldy: Unarmed attacks have a 50/25/15/5% chance of being Super Serious or insta-killing enemies based on rank.
Straw Hat: 50% chance to reflect damage back to enemies with added knockback effect attached
Desert Punk: Immune to Elemental damage, confusion, daze, and poison.
Heat Haze Do: Every 3rd weapon melee attack has +300% damage and 10% chance to restore 50 stamina.
Lady Kikyo: Arrow attacks have +50% damage as light element, knockback, and will pin enemies to nearyby walls.

Role playing style quests where you choose ur own reward.

What Could Possibly... - Defeat 20 enemies while at -100hp or less. [Reward: +100 max hp or +25 Luck]

Basic Beatdown - Defeat 40 enemies without landing a critical hit (nonconsecutive). [Reward: +25 physical power or + 10 strength]

The Steph Curry of Cutting People - Land 7 consecutive critical strikes. [Reward: +50% armor hardiness while attacking or +100% multiplier to defense while moving.]

The Conor McGregor of Smashing People - Stun 7 enemies consecutively for at least 3 turns each. [Reward: Stuns you apply last 50% longer or +25% chance to Daze applied to melee attacks] "You'll do fookin' nuthin'!" :lol:

The Ronda Rousey of Breaking People - Defeat 12 enemies simultaneously from maintaining a Grapple technique. [Reward: Deal +20% damage while grappling or 7% chance to insta-kill grappled enemies]

A few more:
(Any ideas noted as 'Triggered' should be triggered by a switch or portal, to keep them optional.)

Portal Malfunction: A portal will spawn on the floor. Stepping on it will teleport you to a random tile. Afterward, you will be randomly teleported every X turns. Reach the exit. Step on the portal before killing any mobs for a bonus.

Dragon Slayer: Kill X dragons before leaving the floor. Increased generation of dragons. Don't kill any other type of mob for a bonus.

Dragons' Layer (for astralInferno :wink: ): Don't kill any dragons. Increased generation of dragons.

Arachnophobia: Kill X spider-kin. Increased generation of spider-kin.

Asphyxiation: All talents will consume Air instead of their normal resource (as a percent of your maximum air equal to the proportion of the usual cost to the maximum of the usual resource). Could be done with a buff that can be ticked off so you can opt out of the challenge (or, instead, activated by a switch or such). Increased air regeneration? Triggered; kill at least X mobs after triggering.

Bloodcasting: All talents will consume Life instead of their normal resource. Increased life regeneration, maybe a die_at buffer based on your max life? Triggered; kill at least X mobs after triggering.

Slimed: You gain Slimeroots and loose the ability to move normally. Triggered; kill at least X mobs after triggering.

Dreamland: All mobs on the floor gain 'dreaming' prefixes and talents (as in the Slumbering version of Heart of Gloom). Triggered; kill at least X mobs after triggering.

Mad World: All mobs on the floor gain 'mad' prefixes and talents (as in the other version of Heart of Gloom). Triggered; kill at least X mobs after triggering.

Myopia: All mobs beyond 3 tiles away will be 'blurry' (tiles will be blurred, tooltip will be blocked, and you will not be able to inspect them). Triggered; kill at least X mobs after triggering.

Somnambulism: Kill X mobs while Asleep.

Resistance Is Futile: All resistances (for you and mobs) are negated. Triggered; kill at least X mobs after triggering.

Crit Your Pants: All attacks/talents are guaranteed crits (for you and mobs). Triggered; kill at least X mobs after triggering.

Lost Puppy: There is a lost puppy at the entrance of the floor. Keep the puppy alive and return it to its master, somewhere on the floor. The puppy will follow you, but you gain the 'Fetch' talent, which lets you throw a stick. When used, the puppy will move to the tile where you throw the stick before starting to follow you again.

Ice Cold: Half of all floor tiles turn to ice. Ice tiles will freeze any actor that step on them, ignoring stun resistance. Triggered; kill at least X mobs after triggering.

Fisticuffs: Only use unarmed attacks.

Haunted: All bosses/rares on the floor will be 'Ghostly', able to move and see through walls. Kill X Ghostly mobs.

Déjà Vu: When you kill the last mob on the floor, you will be teleported back to the entrance, and all mobs will re-spawn. Reach the exit. Kill them all again for a bonus.

Dazed and Confused: All hits against you have a chance to daze or confuse you. Kill X mobs while both Dazed and Confused. Triggered.

Burns So Good: Take at least X damage (not self-inflicted) from Burning. Increased generation of faeros, fire dragons, etc.

Tribble Trouble: There is a Tribble somewhere on the floor. Every X turns it spawns another Tribble, who will in turn spawn more Tribbles. Kill them all before Y Tribbles spawn.

These Heels Are Killing Me: Your footwear is dropped into your inventory and replaced with a pair of High Heels. High Heels are footwear that have no benefits, reduce move speed by 50%, increase fatigue by 15% and have a chance each time you move to pin you for two turns. Kill at least X mobs without taking them off. Triggered. Trigger before killing any mobs for a bonus.

Once Upon A Time In Mex's Co. : There are X Shalore Archmages on the floor. Find and kill them.

Heat Sink: All talents without a fixed cooldown will cooldown twice as fast (for you and mobs). Triggered; kill at least X mobs after triggering.

Don't Feed The Trolls: Take no damage from trolls. Increased generation of trolls.

There's twenty-five more. I'm tapped out for the moment :P

I think it'd be cool to tie some of these onto the Infinite Dungeon's lore. Godhunter Branzir's endless pursuit of Ralkur and all that.
Some of these suggestions could be tweaked a bit to be pretty flavorful!

Here's a couple of examples of some earlier suggestions altered a bit:

Careful Steps: The traps set for Branzir on this level are still intact! Disarm or otherwise avoid every single one as you make your way further down the dungeon.

Vault Floor: A vault spanning the whole floor appears. Stairs spawn right next to the point where you enter the floor (this floor doesn't count for the number of floors you have gone down). The vaults all are dangerous and end with a boss, with a couple different possible vaults.

Forgive me if this was already mentioned, as I didn't read the whole thread, but I think it would be cool to have one of the challenges add a turn counter that spawns a paradox anomaly every X turns, and you get a reward for surviving the full timer. Maybe have the player interact with an orb or something on the map to trigger, so it stays optional. Might also need to have it spawn some enemies in addition to the anomalies, so the player can't just hide in a corner and easily survive.

... I humbly suggest a pinball wizard challenge level. Simply make all damage inflict proportional knockback, and transfer any remaining knockback into any object collided with, ricocheting said object off in a random direction. Said objects including, of course, the walls. Or at least some/most of them.

Temporary additional talents allowing you to fire off varying strength (zero damage) knockback effects at yourself or others optional, but encouraged.

For real moxy, you could include some special NPCs. Immobile Os that radiate knockback in a 1 square radius, reconfigured steam powered arachnids with flippers for arms, an unmovable drain horror located somewhere that instakills anything that ends up adjacent to it (and destroys terrain), etc., etc. Maybe an invincible tilt bunny hopping around that hits the entire level with a 1 tile random direction knockback if you damage it. Hit the tilt bunny too many times and you lose control of the player for a few turns and maybe summon one of those death vault wyrms or somethin'.

E:... though now that I re-read, it would be somewhat outside the scope of the proposed challenges. Eh.

I'd like to see a Sludgenest-esque challenge, where the floor continues to spawn more and stronger enemies until the player bails (or dies). Reward scales based on the number of turns player lasts.
